Put peanut butter on your finger and smear it around inside the kong. It doesn't have to be stuffed. Try the same thing with some spreadable cheese. Certain biscuits will fit inside kongs of any size. If you have a fenced yard try hanging a kong toy from a tree with a rope. Hang it just out of reach so the dog has to work to get it. Kongs are great!

Easy Cheese type food is the best to fill it with. Be careful with Kongs, Baldo von Wolkenstein died after consuming a part of a Kong. This dog was imported from Germany for a ton of money. The vet took an x-ray and the kong was not seen on the x-ray. They are now making some kongs that can be picked up on X-ray.

a lot of people use peanut butter because you do not need a lot to coat the inside and it takes a while for the dog to lick off. If I am leaving my pup in his crate about once or twice a month I will coat it with his puppy toothpaste so while he works on it, it will clean his teeth. When my mom gives the Kong to her dog she usually just puts a regular dog biscuit in there. Kong also makes this fake cheese stuff designed for dogs that you can spray into there.

well my pup is a bit of chewer and its stood up against her. Aswell as her Kong (which i highly recommend) you could buy her a rawhyde bone. You can get them from any good pet store and it will help keep your dogs mind busy. My dog goes into such a relaxed state chomping on her bone that she will fall asleep mid-chew. Just keep a good supply of them and make her work for it, maybe hiding the bone and asking her to find it. So yes, Kongs are great toys but also invest a few pounds into the raw hyde bones. My girl goes through about 8 rawhyde 'cigars' (long sticks of rawhyde) a week which cost about £0.40 a bone.

You can buy puppy paste from the pet store to put in the kong. Or just put a little bit of peanut butter and sit back and laugh. Don't worry peanut butter is perfectly safe for dogs. It has alot of protein. Or you don't really have to put any thing in it. Just throw it across the room. He will just as trilled to chase it and chew on it.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the kongs. I fill it with
low fat cream cheese
peanut butter then freeze it
bannanas
cheese whiz low sodium
Not their spray stuff, it is too costly.
Plus sometimes I mix their dry food in with a filling from above and fill it. For hot summer days, I just use ice and throw it outside.

I like to freeze the kongs filled with the peanut butter. Great for teething and summer time. Good Luck! :)

i seem to remember that the kong website has several recipes. the simpliest and favorite of my dogs is peanut butter. but, it must be frozen. freezing makes it less messy, makes it last longer and for puppies, it soothes teething pain.

Several companies sell a spray treat (think cheezy spread) that may be less messy than penaut butter. On some models, you can insert hard treats/food kibbles.
