Thank you all for being nice. You are kind.

BUT

conkers are horse chestnuts - it's the same thing. People eat them at this time of year. Shortly, there will be some guy with a Ye Olde Barrow selling hot roasted chestnuts to Christmas shoppers. You get a little punnet with pungent steam coming off it, and if you're smart you'll get some mulled wine as well.

So we ARE talking about something that people eat. So for people, conkers are NOT toxic.

But what about hamsters??? Will small fluffy thing keel over and die? Or will he think we're just the bestest family he could possibly know? Surely someone knows this... please...

I have 2 very sweet rabbits and they are both female and this may sound crazy but, thet mate with my female rabbit on top as the male and the female as the female on the bottom. Then they will chase each other around and my one pulls out the other's hair. The one who pulls out the other's hair (Molly)used to think she was the other one's (Mindy) mom. It is hard to belive. What should I do?

I was told that kittens will die from regular milk. I just took my kitten off milk and she's now eating dry kitten food. Do you think she'll be o.k.? She's barely 6 weeks old.

Just gave my new cat a drontal feline pill yesterday and want to take her and her litter box out of quarantine so she can be with the other cats in the house. (She is a new cat to the house, had fleas so assume thats how she got the tape worm, she no longer has fleas as they were treated with advantage 10 days ago) she has been in quarantine pretty much since we got her 11 days ago cuz we saw she had fleas and didnt want the other cats in the household to get them. so there isnt much chance the other cats in the house need to be treated.
I also realize i need to give her another pill in 4 weeks but my main question was
Does any one have and idea how long drontal feline takes to erradicate the worm? Do I keep my cat in quarantine for 3 more weeks?

I was using Tidy Cat multiple cats, but I noticed the last batch I bought (I go through about 80 pounds of litter a month) - they changed the formula. It's more course and doesn't control odor as well. Now (since the litter changed), one of my four cats is peeing outside the litter box. Any suggestions for a finer clumping litter that controls odor better?

I would prefer to use a non-toxic, home remedy type of solution, but will try anything at this point to keep the neighborhood cats from peeing all over the outside of my house (mainly the patio and sometimes in the garage).

I came home today and noticed that my betta's gills seemed a little white. You can barely even tell it, and I may be just over exaggerating. I still thought I should ask to see if anyone might think it is something serious. I get paranoid about things like this. Do you think something is wrong or is it just me?

My almost 4mo. old bengal kitten tested positive for giardia. he was put on Panacur for 3 days and when I brought him back 2 days after finishing his medicine he still tested positive. He was then put on Flagyll for 7 days and this time when I brought him back after finishing med. he tested negative. The vet says I should bring him back in 2 weeks to be tested again to make sure the giardia is gone. Is this necessary? can it come back once its gone? Could it have been a false negative?

Last night a stray dog wandered up on my porch. He was starving (I could see his ribs) and completely infested with fleas. He was shaking, cold and scared. My husband went to the store to buy a flea comb, flea drops and food for him. I personally picked about 1000 fleas off this poor dog. He ate 2 cans of food and he is a small dog. He slept in my house and but left when I let him out this morning. We did not know who he belonged to. His owner just came through the neighborhood looking for him and says she lives in a flea-infested (her words) apartment down the street. She says she just got the dog a couple of weeks ago. When I got back in my house the dog was asleep on my back deck. I don't want to give the dog back because I think he will die there. I think he ran away to find someone to save him. The owner left her name and phone number for me to call her if I saw him again. What should I do?

I have a cat who is 19 years old. She is in fairly good health - she is affectionate, can see and get around the house, knows who I am, etc. But she cannot hear, has arthritus and the beginning of kidney disease. That's fine, all treatable. The thing that drives me and especially my husband absolutely nuts is that she pees on everything. We can't leave a load of laundry in a pile or even folded in a basket w/o her peeing in it. Sooo stinky. I don't feel right about putting her down yet, she has been my baby for so long - but I wanted opinions on when it should come to that.

I am retired and on a fixed income. I have already spend almost five hundred dollars on veterinary bills but the condition persists. I cannot afford more bills. I am looking for information re: natural pain relievers for dogs.
