My almost 4mo. old bengal kitten tested positive for giardia. he was put on Panacur for 3 days and when I brought him back 2 days after finishing his medicine he still tested positive. He was then put on Flagyll for 7 days and this time when I brought him back after finishing med. he tested negative. The vet says I should bring him back in 2 weeks to be tested again to make sure the giardia is gone. Is this necessary? can it come back once its gone? Could it have been a false negative?

Yes, you need to have 2 negative tests, 2 weeks apart.

Did your vet tell you how to clean your litter area so that your cat can not reinfect itself? And that if you hav eother pets, they may have it as well, and may or may not show signs.

If not, call the vet.

did the doctor tell you that Giardia comes from your pet drinking dirty or infected old water? Giardia, like some other viruses and diseases can be tricky to get rid of, some things affect your pet the rest of it's life........be safe...do the other test.
