yeah i watched that today (my dad made me) and if you noticed the steps didn't start till quite a bit up the ladder so i guess its high enough that the foxes can't reach the first step but the chickens have a little flight capability so can reach.
although if the steps started right at the bottom the fox could easily climb up there clever little buggers

yes, foxes can climb ladders, to a degree............ the best way of warding them off is by hanging human hair (trimmings saved from a hair-salon)stuffed into an old pair of tights. Hang these "stocking-fillers" in a circle all around the hen house. I can assure you the foxes will not go anywhere near the ladder to the hen house. I have used this method abroad with our own chickens.

Unfortunately they can! And they can dig incredibly deep too! Keeping chickens used to be a lot easier when foxes were shy animals. However, as they can climb a ladder so well and they have lost their shyness, maybe one day they'll be knocking at doors asking if you want your windows cleaned!
