It's not perma fix it's called Betta Fix, or Mela Fix. It is also NOT ich/ick what you are describing.
I'd advise going to a forum and posting your question there. You'll get much more better answers from someone with a lot more experience on bettas then the idiots here, these people for the most part are clueless. It's obvious by the poor answers they give. I guess they feel they're helping, but you follow some of their advice and you'll kill your fish. You can tell who the more experienced people are on here, and there's only about 5 or 6 of them. I'm not a betta expert, so I won't give you advice. This guy that started this forum has had thousands of bettas. Ask him.

Sigh where to start. 1st there are 2 meds called primafix, and melafix. (Bettafix is basicly melafix.) In combination they are considered by some to be a cure all. The combination is in my experince fairly effective if your betta is just mildly ro moderately sick. This sounds like Columnaris which is a flexibacteria. Ideally I'd look for trisulfa. If you can't find trisulfa. Look on the back of the packages for anything that targets GRAM NEGATIVE bacteria.
Other Meds:
jungle labs fungus eliminator (also targets bacteria)
marcyn plus
marcyn tc
Melafix & Primafix (double the dosage of both)
marcyn II and marcyn
(note marcyn II is for the flexibactria, and marcyn for secondary/primary bacteria infections.)

First of all, take the fish out of that tank and clean the tank VERY good (no soap)
Next, fill the tank back with fresh water, And treat it for chlorine. Add ICK medicine to the water.
Return the fish to the water and maybe that will cure him. It might not be ick but it sounds like it is. Ick can and will kill him so make sure you treat him asap. Of course nothing is better than taking him to the vet.
Good Luck
* ick medicine is very cheap at wal mart or a pet store*

Hi, i have a Betta for about 6mo now i have never notice that but , you need to change the water every 2wk , just pore a little of the old water in a cup so that when you clean his tank you can put it back , always use bottle water ,,sometimes its the food that causes bacteria to build up ..
good luck

What this sounds like is a bacterial infection...do his eyes seem cloudy and do his gills look like cotton? If so, go to your pet shop and get a bacterial treatment...PimaFix or MelaFix probably woulnd't help, though BettaFix would be ideal... Good Luck

it's easy to relieve your worry. call several pet stores, preferably a PetCo or Pet Smart, and talk with someone in the fish department.
if they are not helpful, consult a vet.
