In her little Mirro column.

"I FEEL sickened by the venomous whispering campaign surrounding Kate and Gerry McCann.

More and more people seem to be joining in now and it turns my stomach. If it was one of my children missing, I'd sell my soul to get them back.

Kate and Gerry McCann are attractive, middle class and earn decent livings as doctors. This seems to provoke a dreadful envy among some people.

I've heard rubbish about how there wouldn't have been the publicity had Madeleine been the daughter of a single mum from a council estate.

Of course there would. Class does not come into it. Regardless of class, money or status, we all feel the most incredible amount of love for our children."

1) Dont be naive, yes a chav mother who leaves her kids alone in an unlocked room will get just as much publicity as the McCanns have got ......... geez! Wake up and smell the coffee.

2) I dont envy them because of their class or status. I envy the fact they somehow have avoided justice.

and what effect is it going to have on our country?. Are we eventually going to end up a nation of people who can't do anything for themselves?
"The McCann effect" has really made people think and act in a very weird way, common sense has gone out the window. People are so terrified of how other people will judge them as parents to the extent that they don't let their kids be normal.

I live in a in UK city. Today, I went to walk my kids to the bus stop to pop them on a bus to school. My son is 11 and my daughter is 9. Their school is a mile away, I walk them to the bus stop near our home, they walk 200 yards to the school at the other side

Just as I had jumped off the bus having payed their fare and waved them bye, this woman said to me "you let them go by themselves?" and started tutting and giving me the stink-eye. I let them do things for themselves because they have to learn in gradual stages . If I deprived them of that wouldn't it be unkind?

The USA has decided to try & continue with it's Anti-Missile Sheild by placing Radar Stations in Eastern Europe. Russia is not happy & has threatened to point Russian Nukes at Eurpean cities.

USA says that the Anti-Missile Sheild is to protect it from missiles from Iran and North Korea but, in my view, neither country has the range or technology to attack USA through Europe. In fact if North Korea really wanted to fire at USA then shooting Polar Bears in Alaska would have better effect. However, the Polar Bears are too busy drowning because of Climate Change to really care about North Korea.

Back to Russia & their threat. Why? Europe is Russia's biggest customer when it comes to Gas and other fuels so, as one BBC Reporter said, to fire Nukes at Europe would be like Russia cutting off its nose to spite its face. Anyway, if Russia really wanted to be noticed it would be very much easier to turn-off the fuel supply.

Are we at risk of another Old Skool Cold War?

I have read in todays news that the McCanns are launching wristbands to raise awareness and (more to the point) money to fund their search. Surely it is time to say that enough is enough. To give all this money for the search of one child in a world littered with abject poverty, abuse and millions of missing people is surely wrong. Have the McCanns even been to Morrocco where she was apparently sighted. Instead they are visiting The Pope. They are spending this money on a European holiday. They are not actually looking for their daughter. The chances of finding Maddie are extremely slim no matter what the finances are. This amount of charity could do real good elsewhere. Surely if you had all that cash the first thing you would do would be to advertise the world over that you will give it all to anyone who hands the child over. These people have acted oddly from the word go, and fair play to the German reporter who raised this to them.

Just looking at the photo of her and Jerry on the Sun's webpage - are they false highlights or natural streaks from the sun? Just wondering because a trip to the hairdressers seems a bit....well....unnecessary to say the least.

His actions could have cost the life of a CIA Agent and her husband. This was treason, and he should get life. Mr. Libby was doing Carl Rove's, Dick Chaney's, and GW's bidding, so why aren't they being held accountable too? Is it because of their money and power over democracy, honor, truth, and justice? Are they above the law? Isn't this like unto dictatorial radical fundamentalism? How can we get back to and preserve our democracy?

We live in a country of stupid lawsuits, and this is just another one. Does anyone know if there is a campaign to send money to these poor people to help with their costs from this idiot's lawsuit? Is this guy a racist or did he just wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

Postage went up again by another 2 cents. Last time was only 3 yrs ago? I didn't hear one whimper of protest from anyone. My thought on this is that people were focused on the increasing price of gas.

What's the lowest price postage you recall for a first-class letter? I recall 1968 at 4 cents.

I personally don't see justification for going to 41 cents, legally, uncontested, without any competition (outside of Federal Express, Airborne, UPS & others who do a variation of mail distribution) to speak of. I've heard of the USPS stopping a little boy from distributing mail by bicycle in his hometown for cheaper rate.

Is the postage rate getting out of hand - in your opinion - or do you feel it is acceptable to raise every so many years - without vote by the American people?

Historically, I know the Pony Express took 7-10 days (did take 23-30 days before that). So, it is a finely tuned business now, we can not deny. But another rate increase?

don't be angry with all. enjoy your family, your life and your country. enjoy your religion and your work.

I guess that if we enjoy more our lives, we would be less angry about other things.

enjoy simple things, life is simple. do you realize how little we need to be happy?

I just read this AP story ---- http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070605/ap_on_re_eu/wartime_pope_1

What do you think about it?

Check out the fourth paragraph in particular -- such a bad spin job it's almost comical.

The pope's speaking out would have accelerated the exterminations? First, the Germans really couldn't have done things much faster than they did. Second, since a lot of Catholics tend to hypnotically obey every Vatican edict, perhaps a denunciation would have prompted some heroic life-saving counter-measures. There are numerous accounts of people of all faiths [including Catholics] helping the persecuted; bishops, cardinals, and popes were not included. I have nothing against Catholic people, but the hierarchy of the church is another matter.

Oy vey............
