Bush only became a lame duck after his second inauguration, in January 2005 since it was clear that he was serving out his final term.

A politician is a lame duck if:

- they are either not planning to run for reelection
- they are finishing a term when someone else has been elected to succeed them
- if they are in the final term of a term limit.

A "lame-duck" president is what a newly elected president is called between the time s/he is elected in November and the Inauguration in the following January. So President Bush was a lame-duck president until his inauguration each time he was elected.

A president is usually considered a 'lame-duck' between election day and inauguration day in an election year if, he was up for re-election and lost, or is completing his second term.

he did no longer incredibly start up being a lame-duck till he have been given re-elected. ...or maybe then, he controlled to out a CIA agent, fire US criminal experts for no longer catering to his political whims and preside over the biggest economic disaster this u . s . a . has seen in lots of years. yet to his credit, he did duck those shoes tremendously plenty. it wasn't lame in any respect, incredibly.

I think he was alright in the beginning. After 9/11 the attitude was to go in, get Bin ******, kick some ***. Then somewhere it turned into Iraq and the BS nonsense that it has become today. As someone who used to support Bush in the beginning, I think he has us completely screwed and I regret voting for him (twice). Lame-duck is putting it nicely.

I don't know if he is lame duck. He got his wish on troop surge. He got his wish on 'no withdraw deadline/timeline' on troop funding bill. He's getting what he wants. Lame duck? Or lame Congress?
