The USA has decided to try & continue with it's Anti-Missile Sheild by placing Radar Stations in Eastern Europe. Russia is not happy & has threatened to point Russian Nukes at Eurpean cities.
USA says that the Anti-Missile Sheild is to protect it from missiles from Iran and North Korea but, in my view, neither country has the range or technology to attack USA through Europe. In fact if North Korea really wanted to fire at USA then shooting Polar Bears in Alaska would have better effect. However, the Polar Bears are too busy drowning because of Climate Change to really care about North Korea.
Back to Russia & their threat. Why? Europe is Russia's biggest customer when it comes to Gas and other fuels so, as one BBC Reporter said, to fire Nukes at Europe would be like Russia cutting off its nose to spite its face. Anyway, if Russia really wanted to be noticed it would be very much easier to turn-off the fuel supply.
Are we at risk of another Old Skool Cold War?

No, i dont think that any country wants to go back to the way that is was during the cold war era. i think that if the usa offered the russian something (i.e. money) then they wouldnt have a problem. the russians are just trying to still appear powerful but the truth is that they have a lot of internal problems which they dont want the world to see.

Russia is nothing more then a bad joke; a third world country with a tin pan communist punk trying to act tough. He needs a good spanking. Russia doesn't like it because, if expanded in the future, it makes the only thing they have going for them (using a nuclear threat to bully like pukin Putin just did) irrelevant. Also, with so many Soviet nukes unaccounted for, a country which could dive into revolution at any time, federal republics of Russia wanting to break free that have nukes, and independent ones that may, a small scale rogue defense makes great sense and could be used to save Russia if targeted. Northern Korea and China could only be deterred from the Aleutians but the normal ballistic path if Iran ever does get a ballistic missile is right where the shield is being put. Putin craves/needs power to the point of irrationality - Russia be condemned as far as he cares.

Stop believing what Politicians say.
First off, the Anti-Missile Shield has more to do with rewarding sub-contractors for supporting USA foreign policy and nothing to do with 'keeping Europe safe' (if London gets nuked it will come in with the luggage on a 747 via Heathrow or inside a shipping container on a lorry via the Channel Tunnel) .. and not via some 'intercontinental ballistic' firework
Next, Russian President will say anything to get re-elected (no, he won't nuke Europe, even if that's what his voters would like him to do).
Finally USSR knows it's 'lost' the 'cold war' = Capitalism generates consumer goods like TVs, Microwave ovens and rock music ... Communism generates a surplus of left handed boots ... for which people have to queue around the block ...

Bush, his arrogant advisers and also Blair have made the world a much more insecure place to be that it was in the original cold war.
Russia is aware of America's capabilities. They don't want a defence system on their back-door as this is a direct threat and action of antagonism by America.
Russia's only option is to isolate America in Europe by imposing self sanctions of oil/gas supply to Europe. America cannot supply the required fuel, so Europe wil be dependent on Russia's fuel.
Of course, if America goes ahead with its proposed 'shield' then Russia will point it's weapons at America and its nuclear sites. It will start a new 'cold war', but Russia has the ability to slow Europe by reduction of fuel supply. It will damage Russia's economy but it needs to defend people against the bullying tactics of America.
One day, the world might wake up to see the elected powers of America for what it is. A bully and a tyrant. America rants about 'democracy'. But by imposing democracy, isn't that a contradiction of democracy.
America wants the AMS because by its own action of imposing democracy, they have threatened so many nations around the world. They are loosing their wars, so now feel scared of repercussions.

The US wants the missiles as close to Russia as possible! This makes it more likely they will hit their targets! This is all the American's fault. Russia is only doing what the US did with the Cuban missiles!

The real reason for this expensive shield is to support Israel and the Iraq war was a war to defend Israel. Putin is great, Russia was owned by about 20 oligarchs 19 of them sent billions of $ to the USA and Israel, Putin is sorting this mess out and I wish him luck
