The guy you are referring to was the original suspect in the case. I recall that he identified himself as having links to the women murdered, so police arrested him as a matter of course. I think he was an attention seeker - which he certainly achieved for a while.

However, Steve Wright is still being prosecuted for the murders and it seems as though the police have their man!!

Yes Steve Wright is still charged with the murders and is awaiting for his trial. However the other man who was first arrested has had his charges dropped and will not face any further action. The second man Steve Wright is still the main man who is awaiting trial.
Some people don't read the news properly.

Well I'm grateful someone supplied a link!!! I was just wondering why, if that were the case it wasn't headline news! I'd already thought I'd heard October for Wright's trial - I wonder why they haven't charged the other guy with wasting police time though - another attention seeker who was 'just being helpful' talking to the press - bringing suspicion on himself....... ho hum, some people never learn do they?

A helpful person will always provide links to what they are stating so we can verify this information. Otherwise its just hearsay.

I find it hard to believe that a man has been sitting in jail for the last 6 months or more and now the police have decided, actually we dont have enough evidence.

If they had enough evidence to remand the man in custody they have enough to go to trial with, so unless I hear otherwise, I dont believe you.

Didn't the police arrest someone? Oh, they let him go. It means that Ipswich isn't SAFE 'cause the killer is still OUT THERE !!

and for clarity it is the 38 year old who has had his bail cancelled and charges dropped. The alleged murderer S Wright is still charged.

Not heard this news. That is very strange as they had him a long time, in custody, since before xmas. He has appeared in court twice too, which is strange, the Judge wouldnt usually allow him to be kept in custody this long without compelling evidence?
Can you provide a link to this please? Thanks.

I had no idea these had been dropped. This is terrible news - so they don't have the killer?

Scary prospect.................
