From what i have seen on YA, her comment about "venomous whispering campaign(s)" is spot on. I have never seen so much innuendo, hints and suggestions of wrong doing based on......nothing
hundreds of posts suggesting:
they must be in it for the money
they had a direct involvement in the disappearance
they are callous
they showed too much emotion to be really upset
they showed too little emotion to be really
they should not have any publicity

all of these accompanied by a nudge, nudge, wink, wink suggestion that the person writting these comments has spotted something that no detective or police officer has seen.

Honestly I am sick of the spiteful invective and ill informed attacks based on a few minutes of media coverage and a heart full of spite and hate.

you say that they are saying to much about the police investigation... others are saying they are not giving enough info about the investigation (implying that they dont really want any investigation) - either way, people like you will be suggesting that they have something to hide.
if there's too much publicity, hateful people will say "they're milking it" and "it's harming the investigation"
if they have no publicity hateful people will say "they don't care" and "they're not doing enough to help the general public find her"

to lilstarr - If there is a media circus, it is of the medias making... the mcCanns are just using whatever resources they can, to help find their child

and a general comment... whatever would (or would not) be done to find other children, whether they are chavs, or whatever, is totally and utterly stupid. you cant go off on a rant about what MAY be done in a HYPOTHETICAL situation. and the McCanns cant be blamed for what they _MEDIA_ MAY or MAY NOT do in any other case

Justice for what? Leaving the kids? being too cool and emotionles? or for somehow being involved in the abduction? I have up untill now tried not to critice them as I am not one for kicking a person when they are down. You would have to have a heart of stone to condemn the McCanns for whatever has happened to Madeleine. Kate's pale, strained face, the way she holds on to her daughter's cuddle-cat as a totem against the news she fears the most, makes it impossible to do anything but sympathise with her pain, and thank God your own children are safe beside you.
No doubt the McCanns will regret for the rest of their lives their decision to leave their young family alone in their apartment, without smug, never-put-a-foot-wrong parents giving them a verbal kicking. The rest of us, the well-meaning but often inadequate majority, shrink from passing judgment not just because it seems unkind, but also in case our words become hostages to fortune.
Tonight however, with the phone call coming after the german reporters question, I reavaluated the evidence and came to the following conclusion, I would not leave my children as they did. I initially thought the lack of emotion from them was because they were in denial, but now they have to be thinking the worse yet remain calm. Why leave morrocco till last when it should by all accounts be first? why after phone call would they continue on the tour? you wouldnt get me away from the phone no matter how slim the chance of it being genuine. Why is gerry saying not relevant? these are people who are supposedly clinging to the outlandish hope thet she is being cared for, yet they dismiss this. I dont know what to think but I finally see that it is all a little dodgy.Reserve judgement.

This whole thing has turned into a media circus surrounding little Madeleine McCanns's parents and everyone seems to have lost sight over the fact that the real issue here is the abduction of a small child. The newspapers are full of 'McCanns meet the Pope', 'McCanns do this', 'McCanns do that' I was sickened the other week to see pictures of the McCanns and their two younger children and they had broad smiles on their faces looking like they had no care in the world. I know that they have to keep a certain amount of normality for the tots who have no real idea what is going on but it does seem that it's turned into the parents story. I have most sympathy for them and can't imagine what they must be going through it is tragic, and I bet that they condemn themselves every day for making the decision to leave their children alone that evening (or hope they do!!) and they are lucky that they have the means to keep this media storm going. However I have to agree if it had been a 'chav mother' as you put it it would have been a total witch hunt and the stories in the newspapers would have been completely different!!


ADDED - hang on a minute death bunny! there is a media circus and i did not state that the mccanns had orchastrated that or otherwise, but they have made no secret of the fact that they want their little girls abduction to be publicised in as big a way as it can and in that of course the tabloids are going to create a storm! they know that everything they do is going to be hugely publicised and I think its turning into the Katie and Gerry McCann show as opposed to the real issue here which is the abduction of their daughter! Perhaps the tabloids are misconstruing what is going on but if thats the case then they are not being shown in a great light and they have the power to stop that. Anyway thats my opinion which everyone is entitled to. I do feel for the McCanns and cant imagine what they are going through and some people on here are being extremely unfair to them but I think that there are better ways than stirring up a frenzy.

people arent saying that a single chav or such like mum wouldnt get the same attention, what they are saying...and i believe this is true.....that if they, or some poor couple on the dole and living in the slums had left their kids alone then the press would be slating them all over the papers.
but there has been no word of this. one paper even said "brave" parents........why?
have they stayed up all night searching, then come home for an hour or so and gone out searching again? no
did they go to morrocco to look for her after the reported sighting of her? no

I totally agree. It has come out of her mouth at last! Because they are, and I quote " attractive, middle class and earn decent livings" they can get away with anything. That includes neglecting their children, taking money out of the pockets of the public and having obscene amounts of publicity.

Maddy has been missing a month now. Any abductor would have got frightened and made a hasty decision because of all the madness. Yes, any parent would be distraught, but world tours and ribbons and broadcasting what the police are doing don't bring children back. It makes it worse. If they are going to go on live national television, giving the details of what the police are doing undercover, it's never going to work is it?

I feel there has been a major injustice to Maddy. Any four-year old girl doesn't deserve to go through what she has because of their parents. What are the twins going to think, if when they are about 14, 15 when they ask what truly happened to their sister? Are the McCanns going to lie, or tell the truth. They broke the law in leaving three young children in an unlocked room in a foreign country while they were having a laugh in a resturaunt? How are Sean and Amelie going to feel then?

I watch GMTV each morning whilst I am getting ready for work, and she never fails to come up trumps with some stupid remark or other.

And BTW that tennis tosser (my hubby's words!) who's sometimes on with her is no better!!
