Up until now I have been watching this story from a distance and trying not to form judgments about the people involved (except the mob of stalkers who appear OBSSESED by this case and Gerry)

But I am curious about peoples 'honest' views on Gerry McCann’s statement to ABC. I have no evidence to suggest he is lying so I accept it at face value. Is what he is saying happened really unreasonable? Do we all not make these kinds of judgment calls daily?

"Appearing and speaking on ABC's Good Morning America, the heart specialist said: "We were dining 50 yards away and we could see the apartment from where we were. It's like we were sat in our back garden, all be it at the end of our garden. The kids were sound asleep and they were being checked regularly. We didn't think we needed a babysitter. We are good parents and what we did felt perfectly reasonable at the time.

Hindsight is an incredible thing. Clearly we couldn't have predicted what was to happen."

Monica Bedi getting so much media attention and a heros welcome in her village how good is it ?? isnt it somewhere down the line making her a hero whose actions the young ppl of india might try to emulate ?? Why do we everywhere in the world end up glamourising the gangsters .. wether its Al capone in the US or Abu salem and Dawood Ibrahim in India ??

I like the McCann family and support them and I wonder if those who don't are just jealous of them.

My question is =

would the anti McCanns like to give us details of their FACEBOOK-MYSPACE accounts so we can see the face behind the slander or do they just want to hide behind the keyboard?

Here in Whitminster we live between Stroud & Gloucester. Both at some stage have been without water while we remain unaffected.

Channel 4 News presenter Alex Thomson said the Madeleine McCann story did not deserve its news ranking: "I've been sickened by the way the media have allowed themselves to be taken for a full-scale ride by the McCanns." He added that the parents'

conduct, "a contributory factor in the abduction, was largely downplayed or ignored altogether by sycophantic, gullible blanket coverage."

Okay, we have established that the SP gets a budget from Whitehall to spend as it sees fit.
Free NHS prescriptions, elderly care and University fees are very expensive, so what in reality are the Scottish people "losing out on" to pay for the above?

No bigoted responses please, posted in good spirit.

I tend to draw reactions that aren't so much shades of grey, but rather just black or white!

LOL (I wouldnt have it any other way. I'd be disappointed if all I got was muted, middle of the road reactions)

Generally regarded as a beautiful country, nice people, nice weather.

Well I say nice weather, but we all know where Australia is with regards to its position to the equator in comparison to say Europe and North America.

Give it a few months say (October / November) and suddenly Gerry will discover what a wonderful child exploitation facility Australia has and will head off on a 'fact finding' mission there as well.

Isn't this contradicting yourself in the one sentence?

Nick Carter, the editor, said: “A tiny minority of people seem to want to say nasty, spiteful and defamatory things. They are bombarding our site"

If they are such a minority, then surely you would hardly notice their messages amongst the 'millions' of messages of support the McCanns receieve.

Unless of course its all a lie, and the fact is there is a sizeable majority of criticism for the McCanns which is why they have had to ban people's comments because its too much work for them to sift through what may be liebelous and what is not.

Because Im pretty sure that when people are sending a message to the Leicester Mercury, they arent sending a message then writing another message and sending it. Then writing another one ......... and so on.

I think Nick Carter needs to question why he is being 'bombarded' by criticism and think to himself that maybe, just maybe, people are sick of the sycophantic media in this country.

To which they were alarmed when they found two hedgehogs making noisey love by the pond! :)

I just caught the tale end of a conversation on my local radio station. Apparantly there is a story buried within the pages of the Daily Mail about him being on a hunger strike.

I just hope he's successful and that we don't have to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds keeping him alive.

In the recent debates the Analysts and majority of Viewers thought Joe Bidden knew most about the issues.

'Best Response', Bidden and Dodd each got one analyst's vote, while Edwards got popular vote and the remaining analyst's vote.

'Most Surprising Performance', Edwards received one analyst's vote while Obama got the remaining two and popular vote.

'Participant whose campaign benefited most', two analysts gave specific accolades to Obama's response and he also won popular vote. One analyst said, "Clinton's camp has to be pleased".

'Most Creative campaign video' saw analysts split between Obama, Dodd and Richardson while Obama won the popular vote.

Total results relating to: knowledge, response, performance, recognition and creativity

Clinton, 1
Richardson, 1
Dodd, 2
Edwards, 3
Bidden, 5
Obama, 8

The only positive vote she got was for having pleased her camp by throwing out 'red meat' especially in regards to the 2000 campaign'. We need a candidate to address today's issues

I am kinda in the dark on all this stuff and trying to understand (maybe a little late in the game)

stop?

I think the rationale is simple. It is no different from your local neighborhood squabble. One neighbor is slighted because another neighbor stepped on their turf or area. Or that neighbor is imposing a new set of neigborhood rules when clearly other set of rules are working well in the other neighborhood area. We are imposing a Western way of living, because we think we are the best and being so we are the only ones that are right. Or forces other people to do our bidding. Thus, this breeds deep-seated animosity. WE are impinging on their sovereignity, and the American government seems arrogant to say, it's our way or the highway. And we threaten them by saying, "we are the only ones that have superior bombs" In this respect alone, other countries hate us. Why is it only the US is allowed to have and develop bombs? The world is not just America.

If we leave them alone, just like any neighborhood squabble, the animosity will EVENTUALLY die down and diminish.

i mean why the ***** does this kind of sh.it even make the news. i could understand if they kept that kind of "news" on the entertainment news shows. But when it spills out onto shows that actually cover real news it just pisses me off. i mean who really gives a flying *****. And if the media knows that we could care less about this bullshit why do they still air it? does anyone else agree with me or do you totally disagree?
