When my father passed away he had a Dorcy lantern with 2 - 6 inch florescent bulbs. My mother and I are trying to figure out what size batteries. Is it 2 large 9V square or what. It DOES NOT say what type of batteries it takes. We would like to get it working for her (mom) in case of power outages. Thanks.

This must be dangerous.Should i have been told this when i brought the house, 4 years ago? Its not just the earth wires its the whole electrics,all messed up.
I think the man who lived here before tried doing up the house on the cheap,as he trades as a "builder" but has left this house in a hell of a mess.
Is there anything we can do to get it rewired for free as this costs so much and must be against the law?

this may be a stupid question and im not usually the supersticious type of person, but I recently found a four leaf clover in my grandmothers backyard and was wondering, would i be able to keep it alive? Any tips?

It is currently wrapped in some glad wrap. It has even already brought me luck. i found another 4 leaf clover the next hour...lol!

I have been having wasps in my bedroom for months now, a few each day. Someone came out and looked at the outside of the house, and said there are not coming from the attic, as none were seen coming and going from the outside. But where else could it be. I've been in the attic too, and cant see anything obvious. I'm sure the nest must be somewhere in our bedroom, could it be under the flooorboards? If there is a nest, and they are obviously still active, will it be a bigger problem in spring? How can I get rid of it, if I cant see it?

For nearly 2 years the local residents have been objecting to indiscriminate rear garden selling and saturation building in Bear Cross, Bournemouth area. With the help of local Councilors we have already won 3 times against the same developer. But we are now fighting his fourth application.The developer is unfortunately well known in the area. The area he is building on decimates two rear gardens in a peculiar shape. The 5' boundary fence is only 27 inches away from it's nearest property. i.e. a large bedroom window and a rear door, The building application says a bungalow and integral garage, but the plans show a two storey building. 3 Bedrooms and two bath rooms upstairs and Diner,Kitchen, Lounge and Study downstairs. That is a house? The residents are determined to fight on, but fear we may lose because our Central Government (Labour) is forcing local authorities to indiscrimately build.The Oxford Dictionary says that a bungalow is a one storey building?

lately, ants invaded my house, they're in everywhere in the kitchen, toilets, roooms...etci live in a council house, and they suggested pesticide, i have got two question, the first one are ants harmful to humans? and other question i heard that pesticide has harmful chemical in it that causes disease is this true?

I live in the country and have them dang field mice coming in my house. I am calling an exterminator but I still want something extra to ensure they stay the hell out of my house. If you have tried that sonic wave thing please tell me if it worked for ya. Also, did it bother your animals? Thanx.

My house is FULL of static, everything! My Clothes, my couch, my bedding, even my freaking hair lol.

and it's a pain in the backside because everytime i touch something metal i get a giant shock and it hurts! :P

what can i do to get rid of it, i already use Bounce Sheets in my laundry, but what else can i do?

where can i find a company called Brownwood? Well my mom bought and entertainment center by the company called brownwood and the entertainment center was a Havana finish, she would like to purchase a bookshelf by the same company, but we can't find anyone who sells this product. We also looked online but they don't show anything like what we want, but we know that the product we want is there just not on the website. I included a picture to show yall guys what are entertaiment center looks like.

Tonight while walking out onto the front porch of my house, I was attacked by dozens of tiny black insects. Looking down on the porch, they were everywhere. Jumping similar to fleas as we watched them. The closest animals to us is next door, who have 4 dogs. Is this fleas or what? Any help would be appreciated. One more note, it has been raining and the porch is damp.

OK so at my apartment complex their is one car alarm that goes off literally at least once a night, sometimes even more. Also there are a couple of people that live below me who have parties often, really it wouldn't be that bad but many nights (like tonight) when (I'm assuming this part) their friends leave or arrive they just sit in the parking lot and lay on the horn for like 15 minutes! It wouldn't be that bad during the day, but it is seriously screwing up my sleep. I don't know how much more I can take!

Anyway I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestion on things to do to help? Either ideas on how to keep sounds from coming in my apartment so much or something like that? I think it'd help if my walls weren't so thin, but I can't just remodel the place lol. Also I was wondering if this is something I'd have the right to complain about, or if there's nothing the apartment people can do.

ps: there's the damn car alarm for the SECOND TIME TONIGHT!!! Grr.

The refrigerator and microwave will not turn on now. No other appliances or outlets in my house are affected. The GFI outlet near the refrigerator does not respond. Resetting the kitchen circuit breakers has no impact. What is the problem and what do you recommend I do about it? I would try to fix it myself if possible. Thanks!
