Chia invented re-gifting, if you get my meaning. I think receiving one is a good indication that you're hard to shop for.

I’m not rightly sure. a craze that returns every other year or so? my sister came home from Spain with one (though they aren’t from there originally) then months later they were massive. One girl in my class at primary school (I’m 19 now so that’s years ago) has a chia pet but there was a strict rule about chia pets being brought to school, my teacher confiscated hers, then she begged and cried for it back, thought she was in year 6, and he reset the chia pet as promised, she cried about how she wasn’t allowed a real pet so her mum got her that for Christmas and he'd murdered her "pet”. It was very upsetting for her really.

Purely entertainment. They allow people who don't have the time or inclination to care for plants, something green growing in their home. Kinda cute too.
