When my father passed away he had a Dorcy lantern with 2 - 6 inch florescent bulbs. My mother and I are trying to figure out what size batteries. Is it 2 large 9V square or what. It DOES NOT say what type of batteries it takes. We would like to get it working for her (mom) in case of power outages. Thanks.

Without seeing it its hard to tell. I am going to take a wild guess that it takes a square six volt battery. Its about 3 inches square and 6 inches tall with two spring coil terminals on top.

probably a 6 volt lantern battery. if there are no markings, take it to a hardware store and they will be able to tell you what type of battery is needed, not too much of a problem really,
