I have a new wood stove but cant seem to get the long hot burns I want from it. Its rated for 7 hrs burn time, does that mean the coals will burn out after 7 hrs or the heat will drop at 7 hrs? If there is no flames just hot coals is the firebox is that what I want or do I want the lazy flames? All the research and my manual say to burn 500-600 degrees but I cant keep it there. I have tried with a large bed of coals and I have tried with raking all the coals to the front and it really makes no difference. I have been burning old locust fence posts and seasoned maple, from my understanding 2 of the top woods to burn!!! please help me before I lose it!
thanks in advance!!!

We have had this bed for over 20 years. When we moved we traded sides of the bed and I am now over the heater. We did have to get a new mattress when we moved and it not quite as high a quality as our old one but it is only like a step below. Due to certain circumstances changing sides is not an option right now. I just wondered if this has ever happened to anybody else.

Hi. I am SO afraid of spiders. Like even the really REALLY tiny harmless ones. Im staying at my sisters house for a few days in her room on an air matress. (in the basement) Her friend in the room across the hall found a black widow spider in her closet a few days ago! I am so scared! Can somebody tell me how to make sure none come in here? And if there already is one, how can i kill them without harming the new kitten? + How poisonus are they, and if I do get bitten, what should I do? (im 14) Will they often come out of hiding? 'Im really paranoid. In my house i have to check every bit of my ceiling before I go to sleep. Please help me!

Had anyone else experienced this? We've had some light fittings put in and were told when they were being sold to us that they were super-energy-efficient, used up very little fuel and that the bulbs would "last for ages"..and incidentally the shop assistant who sold us the fittings "has exactly the same fittings and they're just fantastic". Our centre ceiling light has 5 bulb fittings in it (replaced those 2 weeks ago and 3 have popped; the 2 at the fireplace have 2 bulb fittiings each and 1 of these has popped already. They're not cheap either! Doesn't seem to matter whether I choose a low wattage (I believe they come in either 25 or 40 watts and I always choose the 25). When I phoned Litecraft to explain this to them, I was told that to avoid this, I've to put the bulbs in with a tissue as the "oil that comes off of human hands depreciates the power within the bulb"..eh!? I've done all of that and I'm still 18 months down the line, buying bulbs every other week! Any advice?

I would like to buy new pillows because my old ones have just had it. I thought about getting 2 temperpedic pillows although I see they are pretty costly and I like a lot of pillows so I was thinking 2 expensive and 4 more that are not so expensive.

Which is a good pillow that's not too firm and doesn't flatten out like the down ones do?

I have a bunch of stuff in my room that I really need to get rid of. Clothes, blankets, toys, books, knick-knacks, dolls..... you name it I have it. I want it to go somewhere where someone will get it who really needs it... for free though. Not someplace where they will have to pay for it. Where is the best place? (I live in Southern California LA area if that helps)

Has anyone used the mouse traps where once the mouse goes in, it shuts it and kills it, so you don't have to see it? I can't stand the sight of a dead mouse, so am very interested in this kind. Are they a lot more expensive than the old fashioned ones?

Friends of my parents live about 10 blocks from us. Since they are away most of the time at their other house, they said my and my two sisters can use the pool in their backyard.

The problem is, since they are not home, their house is locked. This means we can't get to the bathroom when we need to pee. It's too far and too cold to run all the way back to our house.

Could we pee in the yard somewhere (it is fenced for good privacy) or even in the pool?

My lovely old labrador died three years ago and we buried him in the garden. We're on water restrictions so the garden isn't very healthy at all except in this one spot where my old dog is buried and the weeds grow profusely. My partner came up with the idea of growing vegetables there. I do miss homegrown vegetables but I cant imagine eating anything which my old dog has fertilized. What do you all think of this?

Just like having backyard pick up , what is it worth to have someone else roll your trash can out so you never miss the trash man and should one offer in a bundle to take the can back after it has been serviced ? if so how much is reasonable for you to not worry about your trash anymore? Per week ,per month etc.

Over the past two weeks we have caught 14 mice in my house. I dont know how they are getting in! I keep my house spotless (usually) and i dont know why they came inside!

anyways, do you know any places where mice can get in? I looked around exterior doors but i didnt see any holes.

I live in the south if that makes a difference.
