I just read this in an Angie's List article. It seems like this would be most welcome in WI so I'm curious as to why.

We recently moved to a small town about 20 miles south of Chicago. It is now December and freezing outside. We have been noticing around the base of our glass sliding doors and up to a foot into the house, in the inside of the house, millions of these teeny tiny red bugs, nearly microscopic in size. I would not have even noticed them if my wife had not pointed them out because they are so small. From a foot away they look like finely ground pepper, and you really have to watch to see them crawling. When we wipe them or vacuum them up, it squishes them and leaves smears of red; a virtual blood bath I would say. My wife has even sprayed some Raid ant Spray we had, but they keep coming back. Does anyone know what they are, if they are harmful to us or our cats, and how we get rid of them?

It is a New Home Model 609. Says CHAIN STITCH on upper left. Probably from the 70's. It has 29 stitch patterns + buttonhole stitch settings. It is a nice machine. Obviously it must lockstitch, I don't know. I'm confused. I read about chain stitches and lockstitches. Still confused.

This might get confusing but someone out there might get it. Ok, I am sewingmy daughters flower girl dress. I am designing it and sewing it myself. I have a pattern to go by but I am adjusting it to my taste by adding several layers of tulle over the actual fabric skirt on the dress. The dress pattern has a zipper closure in the back ( which I must have because this is a toddlers dress and I HAVE to be able to get it over her head). My question is, is it possible to sew the zipper in through the tulle just as if i was sewing the regular dress, only difference being I have tulle layers???? Will it look bad from the back...i'm also thinking of adding a sash so it fits snuggly ...this all seems great in my head but will the zipper still work the way i think it will???

I have a Avanti mini refrigerator (Model # 17-7 RC/RW) which has a bad thermostat. It freezes and so I cannot control the temperature to use it as a refrigerator. The manufacturer says the unit is outdated and so they do not sell any parts. Any suggestions as to how to resolve this problem.

If so, I have another question. Our house was sprayed for ants and roaches. The exterminator said there is no risk to me (I am pregnant) because the spray he uses is odorless and harmless to pets and children. He said the only way it might be harmful was if I licked it up off the floor.

I need someone to tell me if this is true.

I live in an old Victorian house which has very big old Sash windows.
When I have the heating on the condensation pours down them, I wipe them down as much as I can but they are very big and there is a lot of them.
I am fighting a losing battle because I keep finding black mould and mildew along the bottom of the frames.
I am sure this has contributed to the colds my children seem to be constanly getting, so I would like to get rid of it and prevent it from coming back as soon as possible.

I bought glass jars from a dollar store, to store powdered hot chocolate mix in. I am now wondering if there's any chance these new containers aren't safe for food. They don't have the food-safe symbol on them, and they don't mention anything about decoration only, etc.
They are clear glass, no decorations, and they use the wire bale/metal clasp to keep secure the lid.
Any opinions or links would be greatly appreciated!
