I bought glass jars from a dollar store, to store powdered hot chocolate mix in. I am now wondering if there's any chance these new containers aren't safe for food. They don't have the food-safe symbol on them, and they don't mention anything about decoration only, etc.
They are clear glass, no decorations, and they use the wire bale/metal clasp to keep secure the lid.
Any opinions or links would be greatly appreciated!

The jars should be fine, as long as you're using them to store dry stuff- such as your chocolate.

About the only time I would worry about using a glass jar to store stuff is if it had been used to store something toxic before.

Any glass jar should be safe.

You need to be more cautious with the lid. If it's plastics or with some rubber trimmings, then seal a piece of glad wrap (microwave safe) over the jar before securing the cover.

Always wait until your food cool down before securing the lid.

Do not recycle jars/containers that have been used for storing non-food item previously.
