Are Bonsai trees naturally grown or are they manufactured?

They are grown in small pots with poor soil to keep them small. They are pruned and trained to get the shape that you want. So the answer is neither. They are not naturally grown since they are purposely stunted and you can't exactly call them manufactured either.

Think of it this way - living things cannot be manufactured.

They start naturally and then are pruned and guided to shape

they are sculptured to the way you want them.you have to do that part yourself they are an art form.
