I have a bunch of stuff in my room that I really need to get rid of. Clothes, blankets, toys, books, knick-knacks, dolls..... you name it I have it. I want it to go somewhere where someone will get it who really needs it... for free though. Not someplace where they will have to pay for it. Where is the best place? (I live in Southern California LA area if that helps)

there are a ton of options depending on the condition of your things. if the items are extremely worn and of little to no value then i definitely suggest looking up your local "SAFE" houses or churches that they suggest. if the items are in actual good condition, but you no longer have use or never used them, then you can call 2-1-1 (local United Way) and they can direct you to where you can donate to that cause. it's best to donate to a place or cause that is actually legitimate.

You have a few options... If you want it out fast, and free you can try freecycle.org.. Just check out your area and post an OFFER list what you have and see who wants to pick it up.. It's a GREAT way of getting rid of things for free. You can also call your local churches and city missions see if they are taking donations and drop off the items OR scedule a pick-up.. .I donated all my maternity clothing to a battered woman's shelter, along with some baby blankets and some clothing.

Good luck

When I was in Nigeria I met lots of people that need help...I would suggest going to my friend Dr. Panam's website and ask him if he knows of a specific place and how you can donate it without it being used the wrong way. Actually I had the site bookmarked but the bookmark is taking me to someplace else...I'll e-mail and ask him, feel free to e-mail me and I'll get you that website.

the salvation army and goodwill stores sell used items to anyone who wants to purchase them. if you want to give them away, consider a church, a shelter, or perhaps a place where they give food out, where needy people would go.
