Virgomummy in answer to your question i use mortein barrier spray,it comes in a huge greyish suare bottle and u squirt it all around the outside of your house,windows,door frames etc
It works a charm,but for the first few days after u spray it a few insects will come out of their hiding spots and die

Eucalyptus sprigs. You can get them at hobby stores and even some Walmarts. You place them in windows and they keep spiders out.
