We have had this bed for over 20 years. When we moved we traded sides of the bed and I am now over the heater. We did have to get a new mattress when we moved and it not quite as high a quality as our old one but it is only like a step below. Due to certain circumstances changing sides is not an option right now. I just wondered if this has ever happened to anybody else.

I can feel the heat so much at times that it is like laying on a heating pad turned up full blast.

A waterbed heateer is only supposed to heat to 100 degrees. That isn't enough to cause burns.

With the heater under the mattress and the low amount of heat produced, I don't see any way of getting burnt. If it got that hot, it could melt the mattress.

No way... the entire mattress filled with water is between you and the heater...

You are experiencing something else.
