Tony, do you like your current school, home and neighborhood? Does your Mom like your current school home and neighborhood? If the answers are yes, you like them, then you ought to think about it. You move up for something better or bigger or for an investment. A pool requires a lot of work, and money to take care of it, who will take care of it? If you do buy the new home can the old home be rented with a profit? These are some of the questions to consider. You won't be too far from where you are living now so it may be possible to stay at the same school.
Good Luck, ;-)

from experience, I'd say don't.... taking a smaller house for five thousand more just because there's a pool, plus leaving one you like already isn't such a hot move... having a pool might be nice to go splash in, but the costs involved, not to mention the added insurance liability, to keep it running clean and clear will eat up a lot of money..... is she ready to lay out that kind of monthly bill?.... you seem old enuff to be close to out of school... so to me, this is not the time to make a move.... I know I'd like to stay where I'm known and happy at least until I was out of school.... you might suggest to mom that waiting would be a good idea right now and more consideration into that pool thing needs to be on the agenda, too.....

Pool and jacuzzi = major expense
I wouldn't take the offer personally...besides until you get a home inspector to take a look at the house you don't really know what is wrong with it.

If you have to change your school and don't want to, don't take the offer. Otherwise, take a look at the new neighborhood. Is it one you'll enjoy living in? Other young people your age around? Having a pool in a neighborhood you'll feel at home in would be a real plus.

Goodness,It is really hard to say.It would all depend on how much fixing up is required, how many bedrooms, and is it in a better location?Could your mom possibly negociate the offer some more? You must consider how old the house is and the history of it.
