We bought a baby gate(Superyard) on craigslist and after setting it up inside we noticed some hornets or wasps coming out of it. I think they were nesting inside it. We put it out in the garage and havent seen anymore hornets come out but I read somewhere that they can 'hybernate'. I want to sell the gate but dont want to sell it if it has hornets still living in it. What is a way to make sure they are all dead without using any poisons (since the gate is used for kids)?

I live in a 1 bed flat in Balham South London and have a small galley kitchen. At the moment the kitchen is ok a little 80s. I was thinking of paying to have it done to look quite sleek and modern with new appliances. I'm not good at DIY so was going to have the whole lot done professionally.I've been quoted around £6K. What I don't want to find is I pay all that to have a kitchen and don't really make that much more when I come to sell the house.

A bloke acrosss the road about 15 metres, has put up a huge mast, ie. a pole held up with cables. It goes up about 60 ft. and has wires on it supporting it and such like. Do people need planning permission for this sort of thing in the middle of houses and people? I'm not kidding I'm fed up with neighbours and the selfish stuff they do.

I assume its his hobby, ya know, internet and reaching as many people as possible.

We just got into the chicken business yesterday-lol. I have 12 hens and 1 rooster. How long do I need to keep them pinned up? When can I allow them to roam the yard? I live in the country and have a large area for them.

I just moved into a new apartment that is directly over top of a bar that plays loud music until 2 AM. Mostly it's the throbbing bass that keeps me from falling asleep; is there a good way to get of some of that noise?

I went to shop at Lowe's home and garden center to get some idea on how I may want to landscape around the house. There was a nice kind lady who were very helpful and spent like an hr walked around with me to show me things she recommended, and idea of landscaping with drawing. She told me to bring a photo of my home next time, etc. She suggested I should get my credit card application from the store so I can get 10% off, only late to find the application was denied. The next time I saw her, she was not friendly, bu really short with me. What is wrong with her ????

We are currently considering building an addition on our home but go back and forth with whether it would be better to just move. We are looking at converting an existing attached 2 car garage into a large rec room and building a new 2-car garage in front of the old one. We have the available space to do this. We're also thinking about remodeling the kitchen at the same time and building a full bathroom (we currently have a half bath that would then become a walk-in pantry and/or coat closet? We don't have a basement.

The next step up in homes in the area that might have a basement and are about 15-20 years newer than our current home are about $100k-$250k more in price.

It might also be noteworthy that we currently have a 5% 30-year mortgage with equity available for a home equity loan.

i have a problem in my neighborhood. i live in a nice area with average homes. not poor not rich. basically ur typical nice neighborhood. houses are spread apart with enough room for pools and stuff. everybodys yard is nicely kept. however across the street are the biggest slobs. they build a skateboard halfpipe about 2 yrs ago. they never finished this project. it lays out there dry rotted and everything. it makes the neighborehood look like crap. is there a number i can call to tell them about this issue so they can go to that persons house and tell them they have to remove it from there yard? i already tlaked to them about the issue. they said it is there yard and the ydidnt care how it looked. it bugs every neighbor. what should i do?

She's from another country and I'm sure she isn't aware. We live on a quiet cul d sac of track homes that are fairly close together. Just yesterday she hung a big picture on the outside of her front door. It looks horrible. She also has a stuffed sunshine hanging out there as well.

P.S. She's not old or crazy.

I'm going to cut to the chase:

Right now we're headed towards buying Trex for redoing our deck. No problems there.

We live in Kansas, so the summers get HOT. From July-September, it's not unheard of for us to reach over 100 degrees. In our new house (THAT WE CLOSE ON TOMORROW!!!!!!) we are noticing that our deck won't have much shade.

How does Trex compare with pressure treated wood decks with heat retention?

In other words: if we were to walk barefoot across a Trex deck that had just spent a long time in the summer sun, would we be as burned as with pressure treated wood?

My apartment is about 230 sq feet in all and I only intend on using one for a few (perhaps 5 or 6) hours a day.

(We have pet rabbits and 90+ degrees is pretty unsafe for them.)

Thanks in advance.
