They're amazing!! They cushion one's body nicely... But, if you're not sure, you should buy a new, regular mattress, and buy a memory foam mattress pad. Anything above a two-two and half inch thickness will give you that same sleeping on a cloud feeling, and you have the versatility! Plus, it might be more affordable that way (eBay it...).

I think that having a foam topper would defeat the whole purpose of getting a memory foam mattress. The best thing for you to do would be to try out the mattresses in the store.

I want to warn you, I have a memory foam mattress and do not like it. My husband loves it, but he sleeps on his back. I sleep on my stomach, and when I wake up, I have lower back pain. I don't know why this would be, but the lower back pain has been around for the exact amount of time we've had the mattress.

According to popular mechanics, the regular mattress is equal to the foam, so why waste your money on a selling gimmic. If you buy a good mattress, make sure it is a name brand and has a good warranty.

We have a name brand pillow top mattress and after three yrs of having it, I started to get hip pain.
I bought a memory foam topper, and no kidding, no pain!
Next is going to be the memory foam.
Hubby does not like it though.
He says he feels like he is sinking.

Memory Foam Matresses are the absolute best matresses out there! No lie! When you lay on them, it feels like all your aches and pains melt away, and they do not contain allergens, but they are pricier..
