short of buying an air rifle (only kidding animal lovers!) I don't want to plant out my new plants and vegetables only to find that the local cat community have dug them up for their own sanitation pleasures! I don't want to put any chemicals down that'll harm them, so i didn't know if there were any plants that would discourage them? Thank you x

I bought this little cactus at Wal-Mart 4 years ago on the clearance rack for 99 cents. It used to stand straight up - it's a common single stem (not sure of the right word) cactus. But now it just hangs limply over the side of it's pot. It was never root bound, but the roots will just not grow out, I guess, to support the top. I have tried propping it with a network of sticks and string, so it will stand up but it insists on finding a way to plop back down again EVERY time. If I put a rock there to support it, it finds away around it in just a few days. Everyone laughs at it and says it needs some viagra! Lol. Why does my cactus insist on growing this way??

I am looking for suggestions on how to deal with my neighbor's yard and trash, which has become a huge eyesore. In front of the house, "trash" sits because the trash people will not pick up large, broken glass tabletops, rotting sofas, used mattresses, broken exercise equipment, or broken bicycles (all currently in front of the house). This is not a new thing. In the past, TVs, microwaves, transmissions, computer equipment, dead lawnmowers, mattresses, etc. have been left and not picked up. Once there was a small fire there, and clothing was thrown out a window and landed on a tree. For the next seven months, the "clothes tree" kept its shirts and pants. Meanwhile, the owner told me how lucky he was that he had so much insurance on the house. Soon after, new electronics (inc. huge TV) came in; the tree kept its clothes.

Just as bad is the yard garbage: old broken plastic chairs, torn banners, rolls of rusty fencing, used tires, unused lumber strewn across the yard,....

Help, pls!

It has me a little worried and confused. I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep and kept hearing a ticking/buzzing sound by my bed. Turned out it was coming from my baseboard heater. I turned off the heat, still didn't stop. I turned off the breaker switch to all the heat in my apartment, still didn't stop. What could it be? How do I get it to stop? I tapped and banged on it a little bit, looked to see if anything was stuck inside, nothing. and it is on a wall that is not connected to anything but the outside.

I am looking at a house made of cinder block with paint on the outside. I keep getting different stories as to if it is or isn't hard to heat/cool. Also are there any other problems to watch for ?
All of the floor coverings have been removed, what works best for slab floors? What is the best paint for the block and can you "build" walls on the inside to improve insulation and look ?
