Type up and mail (through the post office) an anonymous letter to the neighbor and explain to them how it is affecting you (e.g., can't enjoy your backyard because the dog is constantly barking at you; can't sleep at night because the dog wakes you up several times during the night; etc.) Then wait several days. If the problem continues after about 4 or 5 days, start calling either animal control (if it's during the day) or the police (if it's after hours or on the weekend) and tell them you wish to be anonymous. You will probably have to call them more than once (maybe even several times a week for the next 3 weeks).
Here's a site you can go to to read all about how to deal with neighbors' with barking dogs. http://www.barkingdogs.net/

All day it would be less of a problem than if the dog barked all night. I have found in the past that pet owners are the problem not the pets. Complaining will normally start a small war with the pet owner so I certainly hope that you get some good answers to your question. In my area there are hundreds of barking dogs, 24 hours a day. I will never get used to it. Good luck to you.

If you can't teach the owner you can always teach the dog. We had a dog that was killing our chickens, instead of killing the dog we gave the owner the opportunity to keep the mutt home. We tied a note to its collar warning that if it happens again the dog wouldn't be back home. We haven't seen the dogs since. I have also used a BB gun to pop the dogs butt. It keeps them away. The neighbor's dogs actually go around my yard. Every time the dog barks, shoot it in the @ss. It'll lay down and shut up after a few BB's.

Different noises will scare a dog into shutting his mouth. An air horn works pretty good, but don't overkill with it. Find another noise maker and switch them around so he doesn't become immune to the same noise. At night- a bright floodlight aimed at his eyes works very well. You may have to do it several times, but it seems to scare them and they quit barking. Then, there's always calling the police and file a complaint against them.

I would first talk to the neighbor in a pleasant tone. Of course this rarely works, I know. But if there is to be tension in the future...the ball is dropped by them. Next, check out your local ordinances for nuisance laws for this problem. If there are laws on the books then it's up to you to report it to the authorities. And if you still have this problem unresolved, you can build a 8' fence with a lot of foliage to create a buffer. Good luck with it...Rick

you can file to the SPCA and report the noise and soon the barking will stop, it'll be removed or the dog will go into the home or be rid of.
