The best way I have found to get rid of ants both inside and out is the following recipe:
* 2 cups of sugar
* 1 cup of water
* 2 tablespoons of borax
Place all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to the boil (while stirring). Boil for 3 minutes. Using the plastic lids from milk containers (don't know if you have plastic lids on your milk, but here in Australia we do). Place it in the effected room or outside where the ants are. They will find the sticky liquid no matter where it is placed. The ants eat this and then take it back to their nest. Before long there will be no more ants as this mixture will kill them.

find where they are coming from, most of the times you can find the trail right outside ur home. i would get any ant spray from the store and kill them, and what works really well is Ground chalk! this disrupts the phermon trial and the ants wont crawl past it... they also sell powdered insecticide for ants, that works well...
if all fails, call a pest comp and make sure they soak every crack and crevisis, eves, and all the baseboards inside your home, usually if they do it right, a good spray job will reduce the amount of ants coming into your home.

Trace where the ants go, and if you find the source of all those ants, just spray it and the others, just wipe them out.. =D
And watch out for the sweet stuffs there, they attract ants.. *^^*

Terro (I think that's the name). I get it at Tractor Supply Co. Little bottle with clear liquid and orange label. Leave a drop of it in their path and they'll be gone tomorrow. It's basically boric acid and sugar (like corn syrup).
