I am looking at buying new lighting for my kitchen - the halogen one I like is listed as a "low voltage system", what is the purpose of "low-voltage" systems? What the reason for why I might want this, are they more economical or is there an electrical benefit to them - please help.

You're going to laugh at this one, but it is serious. My upstairs neighbor's bedroom is directly above mine. His bed CREAKS very loudly. It wakes me up every time he turns over in bed. Thank God he dosn't have a girlfriend! I've asked him to fix it and the noise stopped for awhile, but is back again. There is NO WAY that he can't hear it. Any suggestions? can I call the police for a squeeky bed?

So about 2 months ago I discovered a hole outside at the corner of the house leading to under the house near the kitchen and I've seen what I think are chipmunks scurrying into that hole when we open the kitchen door to go outside. I have also hear something scurrying under the bathtub which is behind the wall of the kitchen. Whatever it is I only thought was in the walls and didn't have access to the interior of the house. Guess I was wrong b/c over the past week I've had holes mysteriously appearing at the unopened end of loaf bread and bagels which sits in a large bowl on top of the microwave. Whatever it is doesn't touch fruit, crumbs on the floor and can't get in the cabinets but is eating the bread...and lots of it. A rat? A chipmunk? Our cat has been interested in *something* under the stove and dishwasher since a little after we moved in back in the spring but he hasn't caught anything. Haven't seen any droppings. Any suggestions on what it is and what we need to catch it?

I need to make an offer on some silage. I have taken the measurements of what is there, now I need to determine the weight of a cubic foot. By measureing the lenght by the length and the height I have determined there should be apporximately 9600 cubic feet. What would the weight of a cubic foot be? It is drier at the top than at the bottom. That is about it, thanks.

I accidently turned on the wrong burner and by the time I smelled the burning plastic of my teapot top, it was too late. I scraped most of it off with a knife but I am left with a plastic residue on the burner, which I know will smoke and stink quite a bit if turned back on. Is there anything I can use to get it off?

I am the tenant on the 2nd story of a duplex. There is a lot of ice on the stairs. The lease stipulates that I am in charge of keeping the stairs secure. Should the landlord pay for the salt?

Are they worth it energy-wise...my guess is that using 3 bushels a day at $3 a bushel for 3 months could cost $800...with a 1200 sq. foot house the same heating might be $800 or so....Am I wrong? Has anyone seen a decent scientific evaluation or a non-company site?

Neighbors twice weekly place their trash butted against my property line. The trash ALWAYS blows/comes in to my yard. The man has come on to my property and cut limbs out of my trees (at the trunk) so his flailing shrubs can get light--after I told him NO. Their cat comes in my yard and there is a leash law in our subdivision. And, finally, their children (they have 3 ages 1-12) throw toys in my yard. I've put up a no trespassing sign but they took it down off my fence. I'm really at my wits end here. I've asked them to stop putting trash in my yard and now they're rude ... they think they're not doing anything wrong. The driveways to our homes are relatively close so I always hear them coming and going. They don't have a patio so they use their driveway as a patio and have placed their children's toys out there for them to play (BIG basketball goal). I'm praying they move..... what can I do to protect myself from these awful neighbors? Help
