Discount grocery stores I've found are the best way. Aldi's especially has saved me hundreds every month. Stock up in bulk on stuff you need. Usually if you buy ground beef in bigger packages its cheaper, and then just divide it up when you get home and freeze it in individual baggies. So my best advice is buy in bulk and shop at discount grocery stores. If you refuse to shop at places like aldi's or walmart...become a very dedicated coupon clipper.

Hi, this is a hard one for me. It is difficult because I have a zillion ideas for you, and not enough time. I personally to the following.
Know what you need ahead of time, before you run out, of anything, that way you can 'shop around' for best prices. You may have to go to more than just One Store. Always compare the 2.6 cents per oz vs 3.2 cents, buying bulk does not neccesarily mean better cost per 1lb or oz. When something goes on sale, and you know it's regular price compare and then stock up! Paper towels and such. Use coupons. Check ads, don't just buy as you need, buy with the future ahead so when prices go back up, you already have in stock and for that next week or Two, you may not have to shop again. Except for highly perishables like Milk. If something can be frozen and it's around 50% off, buy two, same as price of one off sale. I found SaraLee frozen pies on sale @ 1.98 less instore coupon $1.00 off. That's .98c no tax, for each pie, regular price $3.98, that's one example. For eveyday cleaning supplies look at .99 only for sponges, furniture wax spray, etc. every one of these items at a regular retail store are always more that 1.00 (2.39) or so, and they are the same size. Brand names, it depends. Do you really need a brand name bleach? I use vinegar to clean windows, excellent shine, clean! How much? .99c gallon? Learn tips everyday until you can go a week or Two without having to shop.
That means that the next week you won't be dashing to the store for a last minute purchase, when in a hurry, make your own home your own 'convenience store'. Also when buying bulk, have a friend share the cost split the purchase!
Much more, but no space, I hogged up too much already. Stick to these common sense guidelines and compare you new savings! It can be fun, especially when you start to see your savings, never be caught short at the grocery line.

Shopping at warehouse clubs saves me a ton. Costco, Sam's Club, and BJ's are great. You do have to have a membership or go with someone who has a membership but the savings are worth the price! Also, expect to spend alot of money at once...but trust me, you probably won't have to go back for a good month or so. Just for example, a gallon of milk at a grocery store in my area is approx. $4...at Costco, a gallon of milk runs around $2-$3. Also, a jug of Clorox runs very high at grocery stores/walmart now a days. At Costco you can get 2 jugs (big ones) for just over $4....they also have name brand clothing/books/cds at better prices than your local Target and if you have a minute check out school supplies for the kids. Just remember that when you see your bill at the end of everything, but you will save trips, time, and money, in the long run.

I keep an Eagle eye out on the grocery ads for BOGO's. Buy on get one free. Only buy what you actually use.
Clip coupons, you can also print them out from company web sites. Take a small calculator and keep track how much you are spending. Set a dollar amount. Learn to read the shelf tags (if you do not already know how to do it.) Know the price per ounce, it is generally on the shelf tag.
Sometimes the price is actually not better on a large jar, two small jars of something can be a better deal.
Avoid the luxury or expensive foods. Save them for special days. Like birthdays and anniversaries.

Too many answers here for mine to do much good, but I offer a couple.
NEVER food shop when HUNGRY
Don't impulse shop EVER
Buy in quantity when available
Buy so that you'll expect more than one meal from the STUFF
Don't keep too many pets
As much as I dislike them, shop BULK at a store that sells that way, IE: Sams Club, Costco, etc.

If you have the time, one savings is to make your own cleaning supplies. So many of them are an awfully lot of perfume and chemicals that are not good to absorb and or breath. There are books with recipes in any large book store. Use spices and herbs to sweeten the air. not those scented chemical scents you plug in. bad for you. Def buy bulk.

nicely the plain is coupons. yet examine your flyers interior the paper for the grocery deals. in spite of the undeniable fact that, study the tags on the cabinets, each and every so often what's "on sale" isn't the main inexpensive. attempt to purchase in bulk, like figuring out to purchase 5 pounds of floor pork at a time and portioning it up and putting it interior the freezer. i purchase cheese in 2 pound blocks, grate it myself and freeze it. (Block is extra inexpensive than shredded.) purchase save kind canned products once you could, they are the suitable comparable foodstuff, with a distinctive label. in case you have a chum with a Costco or Sam's club you 2 might desire to bypass at the same time and pay them afterwards to your share. stay faraway from cereal and overprocessed junk foodstuff, it relatively is often costly. i've got completed all of this. My weak point is clean vegetables.

Make a list and stick to it. When you are shopping, look up and look down for cheaper priced items - eye level items are usually the most expensive.

All answers are good. But I think this is more important. Don't go shopping hungry. And stick to your grocery list.
