I accidently turned on the wrong burner and by the time I smelled the burning plastic of my teapot top, it was too late. I scraped most of it off with a knife but I am left with a plastic residue on the burner, which I know will smoke and stink quite a bit if turned back on. Is there anything I can use to get it off?

Put the burner in the BBQ outside for a few minutes and let the plastic melt off or allow the plastic get soft enough and scrape the remainder off.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work wonders. I had the same thing happen and scraped it off with a razor blade and then got the rest off with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and lots of muscle.... took a few tries but eventually worked.

the best way is to turn the burner on high until it melts, then scrape it off with a spatula while it's still hot.

Purchase some primer. This will get it off very easily. You can get it at Home Depot.
