My 20 + year old boiler occasionally makes a loud bang when it cycles on. I know that it works and the pilot is lit because my radiators immediately get hot. I am getting it serviced by a heating company this week but wanted to know what I was getting myself into...

I want to lay concrete pavement in my backyard. But with fall here the temps right now range from 30's to 40's at the lowest overnight. WIll colder temps simply mean waiting longer for it to cure? How long would it take? Or should I call it off and do the paving in the squelching heat of June/July?

I keep hearing this strange sound coming from the direction of one of our floor vents. It's only every few minutes or so, but it's a very short, high-pitched squeak. It sounds almost the same as when tennis shoes squeak on a gym floor. I've never heard a sound like that in this room before. I'm not afraid of bats, but I'm curious if that's what the sound could be.

I would like prehistoric, dinosaur, skeleton, paleantology, etc. themed......but not bright kid cartoon, more sophisticated. Something you'd find in a museum gift shop or something.

I read all these great home plans, and there is a space in the plan labelled w.i.c, usually open into a bedroom. Is it a lavotory? there is also a bathroom connected to the bedroom, that why i don't understand.

The stuff I grow in my garden, potatoes for instance, gets taken over by weeds if you are not out there everyday hoeing them. Yet you see a farmers field with potatoes growing and there's not a weed in sight. I know they use chemicals, but what chemicals? Can the general public buy these chemicals?

I'm fed up with being organic, it's just not realistic and everything I grow has been attacked by pests. I've got nothing to show for the stuff I've planted. Unless anybody can advise how I can be organic too.

Moved into a rented property 2 months ago. Sinve movin in I noticed bad cases of mould & damp.Contacted landlord within 2 wks of movin in. Landlord got a surveyour out who didnt do a meter reading on all the rooms & the results came back that there was nothin wrong eventhough the wall in the living room was soaking.

Landlord sent a family member round to plaster the outside wall - botch job!!!

Had 2 contact the landlord 2 wks later as the conditions got worse. Was movin clothes from a cupboard when I noticed some at the back of the cupboard were crawling in mould - £50 coat, £120 boots.Checked other rooms & realised the study was crawlin with MOULD. Some of my furniture ruined due 2 mould.

Informed andlord we are movin out as it is unfit to live in. Came home today from shop & found 2 men in the house - just let themselves in! scrappin all the mould and damp of the walls in the study - didnt cover any of my belongings. Couldnt believe it. What would you do?

I have a jalapeno chilli plant outside that has suddenyl started wilting quite badly.
I think it must be because of the frost we have had recently.
Is the plant doomed? or can it recover?
