The most likely reason for your problem is the self defrost system is not working. Check the rear wall of the freezer section( from the bottom to about half way up) for frost. If frost is present can you hear the freezer fan running? If it is running then you have a defrost problem. If it is not running you may have a bad fan motor.

If there is no frost on the rear of the freezer your condenser coils could be blocked with dust or the condenser fan could be bad or both.

If you need further assistance just contact me and I will be glad to help.

Sounds as if the refrigerator compressor isn't working, or has lost refrigerant. Possibly the insulation between the freezer and refrigerator isn't very effective, and the freezer compressor can't keep up with the heat loss.

Check your instruction manual. It should have a troubleshooting section. If you don't have one, you can get it off the internet. You will need the model number.

My Maytag refer. does the same thing. I got mine used no papers no model number. It is a dual cool, climate zone technology, automatic humidity control. That is all I know.

most likely the defrost thermostat is bad. this little gizmo tells the defrost heater when to shut off when in defrost mode. it fails open. after the freezer has defrosted, you can find this little part clipped on to the evaporator coil. easy to replace, cost maybe 10 bucks.
