I keep hearing this strange sound coming from the direction of one of our floor vents. It's only every few minutes or so, but it's a very short, high-pitched squeak. It sounds almost the same as when tennis shoes squeak on a gym floor. I've never heard a sound like that in this room before. I'm not afraid of bats, but I'm curious if that's what the sound could be.

The sounds bats make are ultrasonic to humans--we cannot hear them. The only other sound a bat can make is when they flap there wings and that wouldn't sound like what you described. So I can't tell you what it is but it's not a bat.

They make a very high pitch squeeky sound. Once you hear it you will remember it. They can get in or out of very small holes. GOOD LUCK !
