is there any way that we can tell if its just a reaccuring clog or if its due to the pipe being broken from tree roots, we have had to have plumber come out 6 times in a yr and each time they are only getting toliet paper out. We are currently working with a new plumber from our church who advised us that he thinks we have what he calls a shakey elbow and he is gonna help us replace in spring for only 1/3 of the price because we are gonna do the manual labor part.

I want to sell my house that has a failed septic system. I was told that I could get it replaced "under the table" for a 1/4 of the cost. Would there be issues if this new septic system gets inspected later?

My landlord turned off the natural gas so that i could turn it on in my name. i moved in the home about 2 and a half months ago and i havent turned on my natural gas yet. Ive had hot water since ive moved in so i was delaying to turn on the natural gas. now two and a half months later, all of a sudden i dont have hot water. what do you think this could be? Do you think this could be because of not having my gas on? and if so, how could i have had hot water before this happened?

I think my leach lines are failing but I am not sure. Toilets have backup in both bathrooms and it seems that there is some ground pooling just downhill from where the septic tank is buried and we have been dying for rain here in Southern California.

I'm interested in just fixing up a "portable" cistern pump consisting of a jet pump that I can carry around. Would it be too much strain to have this run for an hour to water some grass?

We got a new toilet put in about a year ago. Recently I have noticed the water in the bowl fills up to where it should be, but if you say.. go to use it the next morning, the water level in the bowl has gone down enough to notice. There is still water in the bowl, but i'd say 1/4 of it is gone. Does this mean there is a leak somewhere? Is that bad? How can we figure out what is wrong without having to remove the toilet?? The floor isn't wet, and neither is the outside of the bowl or anything. Any advice?

I would like to replace the water in my plaster pool because I added something that cloulded it permanently. If the pool has a safety cover, is there a problem with filling it gradually with rainwater over the winter? I live in the NW with occasional freezing.

after i bought some oil (i made sure it's the right kind), i put it in my lawn mower. I started my mower and it started to shoot smoke out the side a little bit so i stopped and realized i put in too much oil. I then tipped my mower over and took out a large portion of the oil. I started it up again and it still smoked out the side but eventually it stopped after a couple of seconds(30ish). I then proceeded mowing and after a while it stopped so i checked the oil and there wasn't enough oil. I put in some more oil and then when i started it up again it started to shoot the smoke out the side again. What's goign on?

I have heard they work well for continous water, but they "break down" often and need service. Also, if water temp in cold weather is REALLY cold going in, does it still come out just as hot?

My son left the mower outside and yes, it rained. When I went to start it up, it almost started but after it kept turning (for just a few short seconds), I turned the key off and tried it again. Nothing. Not a thing. I pulled the mower back, waited a few minutes and tried again. Same thing. After waiting a while longer - nothing at all is happening. I unplugged wires and plugged them back and I cleaned the air filter. I have no clue where the spark plug(s) is located. What could be wrong? Someone suggested that I jump start it but can I do that with a '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a mower battery? How do I do that? Thanks SO much for all your help! You all are great!!!

Our upstairs neighbors had another water leak this morning. I awoke to the smoke alarm chirping and my ceiling, doorframes and carpet soaked. They are fixing the leak upstairs right now, but the alarm chirping is driving me nuts. I am afraid to disconnect it, because water/electricity is a dangerous mix and I don't know which circuit it is on.
The last time this happen, the smoke alarm didn't get soaked, so I didn't worry about it. But now, I am a little worried that it might short circuit and cause a fire.
Do I have a right to be concerned? If so, I will go tell maintenance to replace it right now. Or should I just let it air out and check for corrosion once everything is dry.
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the air intake because when I take the air filter out, it starts and runs fine. It's a Briggs and Stratton engine - 6.0 HP. Help! My grass is growing faster by the second and it's fixin' to rain! Thanks!

It must dry solid and not stay tacky... and the not changing color in UV light would be a bonus!! A hot glue gun option is a thought... but it turns opaque after drying. No good!!! Please help me if you can!! Thanks!!

This is for an average to little bit larger than avg. size lawn. The lawn has an exsisting system that is not working. The valves have been exposed for years and some of the pipes have worked up to the top of the soil and are cracked or were chewed on by dogs.

So, our realtor and inspector said it would probably be easier to just replace the whole system. Someone told me $11,000 but others have said that was outrageous. Any idea?

Much thanks!
