I just installed the dishwasher air gap and the plastic part of the aiargap has two holes for the water to vent out however when I place the metal cover and screwed it down I only see one hole in the vented portion of the metal cover which is positioned over the sink.. When the dishwasher ran and rinsed, the water came out of the vent but also went behind the vent causing water to go on top of the counter behind the sink. What did I do wrong??

We have a farmhouse in rural WI. We put in a water filter and softener, but the smell is still there. I'm sure other people have encountered this problem. Please give me advice on what's worked for you. Thanks!

My Garage door opener just hums... doesn't lift the door. The light on the opener turns ON, which means there is POWER. The Remotes as well as the door opener on the wall all function same. I can manually lift the door.

Any suggestions welcome!
thanks,
- murthy

Lately, the amount of hot water for our morning shower has been lasting less and less time. It's gotten to the point where we get one good hot shower out of it. After that, it goes lukewarm for a little while, and then just cold. I'm pretty sure our water heater is going out. What should I do? Should I get it inspected by a local plumber? Does that cost anything? Is there something I can do myself to make sure it's bad before going out and completely replacing it?

In my bathroom there is a water shutoff valve located behind the toilet. The handle that you twist to turn off the water is dripping water. I think I possibly could fix it on my own, but I dont know how to do it. Does anyone have any advice?

Water pressure seems ok although the original was one horse power the new one is the same make but .8 HP.
All seemed ok but when connecting a new gas bottle for the water heater the shower pressure and hot water pressure seems low.
Looking inside the gas heater the flames seem about half of what they were before.
Does a gas water heater need extra push is there anything I can do
