Water pressure seems ok although the original was one horse power the new one is the same make but .8 HP.
All seemed ok but when connecting a new gas bottle for the water heater the shower pressure and hot water pressure seems low.
Looking inside the gas heater the flames seem about half of what they were before.
Does a gas water heater need extra push is there anything I can do

I would guess that the gas valve that controls the gas to the burner is dependent on water pressure and flow, and that your new pump does not have sufficient power, compared with the original. This will also affect the shower pressure as you say. Looks like you will have to get a pump to match the original one. Is the speed the same on both, RPM??

It may have something to do with that bottle. You may want to get another and compare the two. The pump wouldn't have anything to do with the flame, and since the flame is lower than it was it is probably the gas bottle.

The pressure and volume may be less, but that doesn't control the size of the flames does it? Even so, can you live with it?
