How do I remove a stuck plastic water filter cap?

My husband screwed the plastic filter holder back on without putting lubricant on the threads,now it wont come off.Any ideas for loosening the filter?Thanks!

Do you have a filter wrench? If not use a strap wrench and just use brute force. It should open up. Good Luck!

Try cooling it with ice or something.
Cooling shrinks things like heating expands things.
