I just installed the dishwasher air gap and the plastic part of the aiargap has two holes for the water to vent out however when I place the metal cover and screwed it down I only see one hole in the vented portion of the metal cover which is positioned over the sink.. When the dishwasher ran and rinsed, the water came out of the vent but also went behind the vent causing water to go on top of the counter behind the sink. What did I do wrong??

1 hole you attach the discharge hose from the dishwasher, the other you run a drain to your tee fitting on your sink drain or pop a hole in your disposal and remove plastic plug. That should work
