Configuration:
Two connected switches that each say "30" go for an outlet for the computer, the total master bedroom, and the central A/C.

The same--2 connected 30's seem to be for nothing.

The same--2 connected 30's for the 220 dryer.

One "20" (not the skinny one, but the next size) for the lights in 5 rooms plus a few outlets.

One of the same "20" not skinny for an outlet that does nothing.

Several skinny "20" breakers:
1. 2 outlets
2. outlet to washing machine
3. outlet by the sink
4. six more that seem to go to nothing

Question:I was wondering what and individual can do to prevent foundation damage to their home and what corrective actions can be taken.

In regards to: Currently I own a home in San Anotnio which I have been told the soil looks as though it is settling and had been advised to possibly call an engineer.

Thank you!

I rent a very old house and have no money for a handyman or help from landlord. Any ideas of something I do do myself to get the water to go down? Also it leaks, but I am asssuming it is because the water can't go down fast enough.

I had a new high effeciency (95%) installed and want to make sure it's vented OK. The vent goes out the back of the house and extends about 6 feet beyond the wall and ends under the middle of ther deck. The pipe is pretty much level.

Should the pipe slope down going out or up? Meaning should the moisture drain outside or back to the furnace? Is there any problem with the vent under the deck? At least there won't be any snow build up around the vent.

Door knob does not have key. From outside there is only a tiny hole in knob - through which I tried putting a long nail and other long tools to see if the door would open - but it does not. The door knob was installed just 2 months ago.

I also removed hinges of the door; but the door does not swing open either.

I need so much work done around the house, but when I call a contractor, I always get an answering machine. I leave a message, but they never return my calls. I even stopped in at one's place of business. He said he'd come over and give me an estimate in about an hour. It was more like three hours. He did look at the job and said he could start the next week. That was three weeks ago! I'm getting really frustrated. What should I do about the whole contractor thing?

Our pool has been covered for the "winter". It seems to be losing water but there is no sign of a leak. Could it be leaking underground but not showing up? And how? It's concrete under there. We thought it was leaking from one of the return lines, but it is below there now and still is leaking. Also the liner is only a couple of years old. Can it be refitted to the pool? Thanks in advance.

A light bulb exploded and brought the shade down and splinters all over the expensive dining room table. He has cleaned it up as much as he can but has found two or three long deepish scratches on it. He is in a right panic cos his parents are home tomorrow afternoon and he is worried they will kick off.

Is there any way to cover up even temporarily these scratches??

It's a victorian upper flat. Heat sails merrily out of everywhere. Lots could be done, but it's going to cost. Any suggestions?
