About how much would it cost to have my broken furnace replaced. It is the horizontal type that sits in my attic. My house is 1400 sq ft... I'm just looking for a ballpark estimate, and if you know the cost breakdown for labor that would be great.

The crib is probably about 50 years old and accomodates at least a 20" doll. The side rail goes up and down. I have only 3 of the 4 original casters. They are smaller than I can find anywhere.

I just bought 2 press-board cabinets with doors for my garage. I know that they are not the best cabinets, but they are affordable. I just need some ideas to help them last longer. Any suggestions for reinforcing them?

I'm trying to replace my dishwasher, but when I turned off my circuit breaker switch to the kitchen (lights and ventilation fans), the dishwasher still fills with water. Does the dishwasher work like a washer where it fills with water but does not drain if there's no power?

This only happens during the winter and has led to mold on a couple of occasions. This closet shares an outside wall. My neighbor who has the same house plan as mine has the same problem. Checked insulation behind siding and that was good. Will be renting out the house next month and I don't want my tenant to have this problem. I know leaving the door open would help but I can't expect the tenant to do that all winter.

I just built a CP Morgan in Jan 2006. I pulled up the carpet, because we are considering laying laminate wood flooring and when I pulled up the "tack strip" there were holes where the strip was nailed on. That is now biggie but when I took a wet towel to the floor to wipe off dust the hole got bigger where the nail was and this hard top coat peeled off and the cement seemed to crumble under the use of the water. The hole went from the size of a pen eraser to about 3 in. just by rubbing it with water////is this normal? I knwo nothing about concrete or anything like that. I have a fear that since my house had it's foundation laid in the winter that maybe the concrete did not set? Any input would help

My front porch has a railing and mulberry bushes that every neighborhood songbird roosts on, and it creates a terrible mess. How can I prevent the birds from returning to the porch, save for following Mr. Twit's example and gluing them to the roof?

I got the water leakage from the bath room above my dining room. it had been checked for moisture, and the vinyl from the bathroom had been removed but has not been replaced. Now there is a yellow stain around my chandeleer about 8-10 inches in diameter on my dining room ceiling . I need an estimate how much it would cost to do it myself vs to have some contractor to do it.

In my bathroom, there is a tile that has become lose. Can I just pry it out, then put new grout around it and it will be okay? I really don't wan to have to redo the entire floor.

Also, around the tub, the caulking no longer completely fills the gap. can I just add new stuff in the new gap, or should I remove all before doing so? I really want to put as little effort into this as possible.

and one last question. what's a good way to clean the grout (to get it back to a nice white)? when we moved in, it was already discolored, and I am kind of scared to bleach it because maybe it's too hard on the tiles? What do you think?

My bed is very squeaky and creaky. The matress used to lie on a box spring (or whatever you call it) but I took it out and that made it less noisy. Now the matress rests on only wood planks, and would rubbing soap or surf wax on them help cure the creakiness?
