Find a local company that rents ozone machines. These machines are used by hotels in rooms to remove smoke odors. They are also used by companies the deal with smoke damage from home fires.

The size machine and time you will need to run it depend on the size, number of rooms, and the extent of the smoke damage. You can certainly get the details from rental company you find.

Good Luck.

Well, the previous answers are good, but this is my suggestion:

First, I would hire a professional cleaning service to do a complete cleaning from floor to ceiling, end to end.

Secondly, the concrete under the carpet should have been sealed with a product made by Zinsser called B I N. It is an alcohol based primer/sealer designed for the purpose of blocking out odor and staining from smoke, urine, etc. I've been in the paint and home remodeling business for many years. Let me tell you, this product works. The only thing more drastic is to knock the damn house down! Additionally, I would recommend applying it on every single wall and ceiling in the entire house, then repainting over it. That's probably not the answer you were looking for, but it's the best starting point. Everything else is just going to temporarily mask the odor. I know, I smoked for 17 years, and have now been smoke-free for almost three years.

Good luck to you!

Found this tip on the net and hope it helps. Put apple cidar vinegar, vanilla extract, and perfume in a spray bottle and spray the house and then sprinkled baking soda and baby powder on the carpet and let it set for an hour and then vaccumed. The house will has a nice vanilla and powdery sent.

There are professional companies that are equipped to tackle bad smells in homes. We used one when we lived in Tucson Az because our apt smelled funny when we moved in. Good luck!

YOUR ON THE RIGHT TRACK. YOU HAVE SEALED OUT AND OR REMOVED THE MAJORITY OF THE SMOKE SPORES. THE NEXT STEP I CAN THINK OF IS TO PUT AN AIR IONIZER IN EACH ROOM AFFECTED. IT WILL BREAK DOWN REMAINING SMELLS AND CLEAN THE AIR ON A MOLECULAR LEVEL. TRY TO FIND A GOOD ONE THAT HAS CLEANABLE PLATES. IT WILL WORK WONDERS FOR OTHER UNDESIRABLE ODORS FOR A LONG TIME.
