There's an electric current apparently travelling through the knobs in the shower and the sink, and also through the water that comes through the faucets. It's not too much, but it hurts on any cuts or hangnails, and under the fingernails. It's gotten to the point where I have to change the water temp in the shower by tapping the knob with a shampoo bottle. Does it have any connection with the fact that two outlets and the main light fixture in my room dont work? Professional/educated opinions are appreciated. =\

I live next to the ocean, my tools are inside a toolshed, but they still get a coat of "rust" because of the salt-air. I put light oil on most, but not pratical on things like desk fans, tables with metal nuts and bolts/screws and so on.

I recently replaced the starter rope and pully assembly on my Snapper lawn mower. When I did this I changed the oil. I started it up for the first use after the repair and it seemed to work fine and I continued to mow the lawn with no problems at all. The next time I when to mow the lawn I pulled on the starter rope the engine tried to start but the starter rope stayed extended. I proceded to take the mower back apart to check the pully assembly. The spring was kinda funky and I think I fixed it, however, when I got it all back together and tried to start the mower again I could not pull the rope unless I pulled really hard and it didn't start. I checked the oil and it was empty. But I know I put oil in it. Any one know what happened? What to do? How Much its gonna cost me?

The house was constructed new and I have shingles that have a 20 year warranty. A few have blown off in winds of 40-50 mph and I have had them replaced. The shingles show signs of wear. How does one find out if a "warranty" applies. When talking with the installing company I get "you know the shingles are old". Yeah, so what, they were sold and designed to last for 20 years and they are showing severe wear and I'm afraid a leak will develop and I will have worse problems. It seems contacting installers is futile...they all want to sell you a new roof job. Should I be able to contact the shingle manufacturer and have their representative look at it?

I live in a tropical country. The ants are very small, brownish in color, and seem to be attracted to water (they are always found in my sink and tumblers) on top of the usual sweets.

We live in the bottom of a rental house. Both apartments have seperate heating systems. The upstairs neighbors smoke but we have never smelled the smoke. Today we have vast amounts of cigarette smoke coming in through our heating vents. We have the feeling they are trying to force us to move. Can the smoke somehow get into our vents or are they up to something?

My house was cooling pretty well a couple weeks ago. Last week, the breaker kept tripping. Through my home warranty company's ac guys, it was determined I'd get a new condenser unit. Though smaller, it's a 12 seer (as oppoosed to the older 10) so that's good, right? I was surprised by the size. Anyway, the installation was completed about 2.5 hours ago. The AC has been running since, cooling the house from aroung 86 to 82. Not a very big drop for two hours, right? The house seemed to cool faster before. It's been at 82 for an hour now, it seems my inside blowers aren't as strong as they used to be. Why? My $5 air filters are new, btw. It's 92 and humid outside, btw. Anyway, I noticed by outside condensate pipe (an auxillary pipe, I think) dripping. I was told my lines are likely clogged and/or my coil is probably dirty on the big unit in the attic. He says he'll clear the lines and chem clean the coils for $175, which seems darn good to me compared to other quotes.

I have a clogged toilet and also bath tub. I am thinking it goes through the same pipe. I used liquid and nothing. They suggested for me to use an auger but I am wondering if this is too short for the problem. Also, they recommended a snake but they told me I need to remove the toilet since it might break the toilet. I want to make this as easy as possible without spending too much money. My last resource is get a plummer but gosh they are pricey. Anyone with any suggestions and tips?

I have a low mass boiler (LAARS Oil Fired 140K BTU) feeding two circuits with airhandler mounted hot water coils. The first airhandler is physically beside the boiler, and already plumbed in with 3/4" copper... the second is about 75' away (150' roundtrip), this is the one I wish to use 1" PEX tubing for the supply and return lines. I generally run the boiler between 180 and 200 degrees F, but on occassion will reach 210F (max).

I am 8 months pregnant and my baby will be here very soon and I have mold/mildew on a wall in an inaccessible (locked utility closet) in my apartment. I have been asking my landlord since Decembe to do something about it and they just spray tub and tile cleaner on the wall! The smell is starting to get unbearable and I am worried about our safety. What can I do?! Isnt there some kind of law for these things? (I live in Georgia by the way)

A couple weeks ago our water was out for a few hours because of maintenance in the neighborhood. When it came back on, the water level in the toilet bowl was very low and it remains that way, even if I hold the handle down when flushing (in which case the water level rises but eventually goes back down). What can I do to permanently raise the water level?

My Wards food dehydrator doesn't heat any more, and the only thing that I can't check is a small electronic component in line with the heating coil. The fan went bad, and the plastic fan blade melted. After replacing the fan, the heating element won't heat. Thought maybe this is some sort of fuse that blows when it overheats, it looks somewhat like a diode to me (rocket ship shaped). I'm tempted to just short circuit the device, but would prefer to replace it if I knew what it was. I tried measuring the resistance with my meter, and it read open circuit, even switching the leads. Can anyone help me identify this component?
