The only way I can think of is to track down their food supply and get rid of it. They will then find another supply. Just keep following the ant trails until you find the source of their food.

Well this is a big job.
First you have to identify if you have 1000
or10,000 or 100,000 or 1,000,000 tiny brown ants.
lets say you have 100000 then you must go to the hardware store and ask for a package of 10,000 live brown ant traps. Each will have to be baited and set independant of the other. The next big thing is monitoring these traps because God forbid : Oh I am sorry, Budah forbid that you should leave a brown ant in any of those traps to long with out any water this may cause there demise. Now with you magnafying glass keep a close eye on these cages. as each triggers, you will have to be very covert not drawing attention to yourself picking up the individual cage out of the effected area. In order to release him or her into their specified camps This brings us to your need for a few more items. You will do better and save your self alot of frusteration and time purchasing camoflas, Not the kind hunters wear but something that will make the ants more secure. Like a buda suite. Do not make the mistake as my last advicee made and buy the camo that resembles an ardvark. That sent the red ants into a panic and a stampeed resulted killing 100,000 out of the herd of 111,000 critically injuring over 50,000. Now you will also need a camp for the ants that you are going to release from the traps. they sell these in many types be sure to pick up the one you need. The one I would recommend is the Budah box camp it is the less threatening to your tiny invaders. What ever you do, do not purchase the guatanomoe bay box. This is not for you. Good luck

Follow the ant trail to see where they come into your house, and place some tasty stuff outside the house where they enter. Given a supply of food more readily available closer to their nest, they should have no reason to invade your home. Hire an exterminator to do the trail-hunting footwork if you like, be sure to emphasize not to kill or spray or anything, you just want to know where they're coming in so you can feed them and keep them out.
Just a thought, not sure how well it will work.

First off it sounds like they attracted in because you are not soring food properly. Place sugar and open food boxes, bags into air tight containers. This will stop them from seeking the source they obviously can detect as a food supply.
Then place a food supply outside your home and like Hansel and Gretel leave a tiny trail to it every 10 inches or so from your home.
It could be awhile before they move back out but you wont have killed anything and saved yourself the worry and contamination issues of insects in your home.

Buy Terro Ant Bait. It won't kill the ants who take it back to their queen. "They" will do the killing by feeding her the ant bait. Then since they no longer have a queen they will go some place else.

Put all of your food away in the fridge or a tightly sealed container. Wipe down EVERYTHING after you use it and wash your dishes immediately. Evidently, ants follow an ant line, so you need to find that and wash it away.
