Do you guys know of a company that ships LARGE palms and is not too expensive? I'd like it to be very simple, simply order a palm, and have it show up on my doorstep, is this possible?

Also, I do know that colorado is a tough place to grow palms, however, with the right palms and southern exposure, palms can survive. I have seen them live!

I have a 5 acre farmette. I am looking at a 30 HP John Deere with a front loader, finish mower and snow blade. A brand new 2006 runs $22K. Should I go with a John Deere or another brand?

Also should I get the pull behind snow blade, or the one that mounts on the front loader?

For people who have a company come and mow their lawns, when do you schedule the service for the next year? If you could tell me the month or range of weeks where you try to schedule your lawn guy for next year this would be very helpful. If you could also include where in the country you live that would be great too. Thanks!! (I am trying to find out when I should be talking to potential customers, because I am starting a new lawn care buisness)

Thanks Again!!!!

I grew an amaryllis bulb two months back, it grew about 1.5 ft tall, lots of leaves but does not have any flower stalk.
Is that normal??? Could it be that its not getting enough sunshine, its raining a lot in CA these days, so I've placed the plant indoors by the west facing window but not lot of sun these days :-(

I planted allium bulbs (globemaster) in containers in Oct but even after 2 months, I don't see any growth in there. What could be the problem. I haven't put the pots out in the backyard as squirrels dig them up. How often do they need water???sun???

I have squirrels in my back yard -- and they make me laugh. The rats don't. I want to feed the squirrels in the wintertime and not the rats. What should I do? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if there is an agency/contact from which I might receive free trees ( Grant?) to stop erosion and act as a wind/noise break on property against a highway?

I built a compost bin about 3 feet X 3 feet X 3 feet and filled it with fall leaves and grass clippings. For about 2 months, I've been stirring in coffee grounds (with paper filters), fruit and veggie peelings, tea bags, etc, while being careful to leave out meat scraps and dairy products. The pile, after being stirred and watered regularly, appears to be decreasing in height, but there's one thing that bothers me. It's quite cold where I live and I've read that a successful compost pile should steam on a cold morning when you turn it (due to the action of the microorganisms speeding the decay along). My pile has yet to do this, and I'm wondering if that means I'm doing something wrong. It appears my composting is working, but is there anything else I could be doing differently?

So, I'd like to do someting a little different this year, and get a young live tree. I saw some in the store and thought it would be cool. Now, if I do that, how do I make sure this thing I buy will actually live through the season until I plant it? Other than constant watering of course. I 'm talking about care and feeding of said tree. Tired of buying plants and having them die on me. Waste of money, for one thing.
