Hi, im a landscape architecture student and im now doing my project design. My question is, is it possible to plant carpet grass vertically? i know there are vertical planting using the 'cells' but they are mostly to plant shrubs, never grass. In my project, I want to create steps, but all around the surface (all the threads and risers of each step) I want to use grass. I have been searching everywhere to find information about this and I thought I should seek advice or help from experienced landscape architects or horticulturalists.

by the way, I also wonder if carpet grass (axonopus fissifolius) is shade tolerant. In my design project, Im going to use carpet grass under a viewing tower-like structure measuring height of around 3 metres and a circular viewing platform of 7 metres of diameter. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thankyou in advance. regards.

I bought 4 big quite expensive bamboo plants last summer...from the start they were not looking that great but I thought they would shape up! Nothing I did made them look any better! Does anyone know what I can do to make them grow and look green!!! They have brown and yellow leaves all over...I try to remove them but it is an endless task...
I live in Switzerland and the summers are very warm and during winter time the temperature decreased to a maximum of minus 5. I have covered them for the winter as it is now...
ANY BAMBOO LIFE SAVING TIPS????

It's a leafy plant and pretty fragile - I don't want to ruin it.

I live in Houston Tx area and just pulled up a banana tree that didnt do anything. I like to plant a low maintenance fruit tree at its place. Its very close to the water and I dont want to drown it. If not advisable, a pretty flower tree that dont mind some wet feet. What do you suggest?

everyone keeps telling me that jade trees are so easy to take care of, well, i've killed a 30 year old tree that i was treesitting for my bf's dad. i bought him another one and a really nice cactus garden, the cactuses lived and grew, the jade tree is dead. can someone tell me the basics of caring for this type of plant. i have many hose plants, mainly tropical and cactuses and i've never had any problems until the dreaded jade.

Today a friend gave me a cutting (slip) from her Poinsettia.
I put it in Baccto potting soil. Watered it a little.
The bloom is wilting already.
One factor is I had put it on a table, inside the house, about 5 feet from the patio door and I had the door open for awhile. It got some cold air. So I moved it into another room that's warmer.
Was it right just putting it directly in to the soil or should I have rooted it first? What environment does it thrive best in?

I have a small front yard with two large oaks. Other than those two trees, everything else is drab, scraggly and/or eroded away. The yard is mostly on a slope and the soil is washing away down to the sidewalk. Other homes in this neighborhood are attractive and well manicured. I purchased this home a few months ago and am now ready to put about $3,000 dollars into professional landscaping. What makes a house attractive and appealing to you?
