You grow them from a sucker of an existing plant called a "stool". You need a tropical or subtropical climate. Most bananas you buy in shops come from sterile varieties and they have no seeds, so you can't grow them from the fruit. If you plant one the worms will love it, but unfortuately you won't get a banana plant.

If my husband is correct lol (which he probably is considering he grew them in Mexico) they're grown from transplant. After you plant them, you cut the top off leaving it about 3 ft. tall. It doesn't need much water to grow. Alot of the watering depends on what area you live. Also if helps if you add a fertilizer when planted.
But he pretty much said they can grow well without alot of care and tending to.
Good Luck

A banana you eat has undeveloped seeds so no, if you plant a banana it will not grow. Go to parkseed.com and you can buy some banana seeds. They're pretty steep though--last time I bought some they were about a buck apiece.
