Hi,

I have a hardy hibiscus (not sure what type it is). It is a very different type of hibiscus just to give you some background--the plant grows what I'd describe as individual skinnier stalks instead of the normal bush like appearance. And the flowers are amazing--a dark rich pink with a Stamen that is very very bright yellow--and pink on the very ends. My step father found some seeds at an old abandoned homesite and planted them about 15 years ago. He gave me two very late last fall but only one made it through the winter.

The seed pod is not as wrinkled and pointed as all the other hardy hibiscus seed pods I have seen.

The closest hibiscus it resembles is a Disco Belle, but I know it is not that type. Any ideas on what kind it might be? I can send you a pic if you e-mail me with your e-mail address.

I thought I read somewhere that now is bad to trim bushes because the growths will die, does the same thing apply to trees? My tree is getting out of control and all the branches keep knocking into my siding. The leaves have all fallen. Can I trim the branches now?

Its mid October here in Saskatchewan. I still have potaotes to dig from the garden. The temps have been cold . . .down to minus 9 degrees celcius (16F) at night and only as high as 5 (41F) degrees celcius in the day. Are the potaoes ruined now? or will the ground have protected them from the frost?
What is the lowest temperature they can tollerate before harm is done?

The neighbohoos has many aspen trees ina Denver, CO suburb. Our lost about half of their leaves two years ago. We sprayed at suggestion of horticulture shop for fungus which was apparent on the leaves. As the leaves were coming out (about the size of mouse ears) the trees were sprayed again. No signs of any fungus this year, hut the trees never fully leaved out. Now when leaves are turning yellow and starting to fall in the neighboir hood our changed quickly and are all down. Any ideas on thing shtatc can cause this. It's not a lack of water. Thanks!

I have four indoor rabbits that produce lots of poop. Has anyone used rabbit manure before in gardening? They use a litter box full of wood stove pellets. Does that make any difference to plants?

I have a small blackberry patch that is growing on a trellis next to my fence. The patch is 5 or 6 years old and is becoming VERY overgrown. How do I cut it back without effecting next year’s production? I have done moderate pruning in the past but It now needs a serious hair cut.

Some have white mold that begins at the base of the leaf and then darkens the leaf and causes it to fall off. Some have black bumps on the leaves.
Please help. I've had these Jades for 20 years.

I've seen a beautiful plant around college and have no idea what it is (I don't have a garden, but I'd like to find pictures of it to brighten my room and computer.) It has thin stems and, notably, these translucent circular leaves/pods with a silvery sheen. Does anyone know what it might be?
