I have some and just love them, but am not sure if they are really "in" or not. What do you think? Do you have any?

(Let me just preface this question with some history: I live in an apartment, but crave to be outdoors as much as possible, so I plan ahead by making new friends who are in need of weekend gardeners in my area, so I can play in THEIR soil).

I've always assumed, (because my clients are cheap and I work for free), that annuals are a waste of money.

Then I read Chistopher Lloyd's" Succesion Planting for year-round Pleasure" over the spring season.

I was standing in front a $ table of plants at Lowes. Portulaca were in bloom. I purchased 10 plants. Loved what they did. I want more!

I collected seeds (and dug one up to bring into my apt., but its NOT flurishing).

I am wondering, here in zone 5, how do i start the seeds for next year? Can I sow directly? Do I need to buy grow lights? Will the seeds I let naturally fall to the ground winter over to make beauties for next year?

Thanks for endulging my questions.

Just don't tire yourself out, because I have tons of more ?'s

I live in a condo, with an association and president, and blah blah... well anyway, a few weeks ago, i put up my ghost and scarecrow and window clings, and about a week ago, the president came to the door and said someone complained and that the rules state, to only have deco. up 1 week before and down the day after! I took them down to find that a condo down the street had up deco. so i put mine back up, and of course the next day i got a "second notice".. so i took them back down! He never said anything about the window stuff so that is still up, today in the mail, i got a letter saying someone complained and they need to come down!!! For the health, safety, and wefare of everyone??? please tell me what you would do?

I have a few rose bushes, one is called "Nearly Black" and it blooms the most beautiful bright/blood red, my blue climbing rose blooms a sweet lavender color, and my yellow "victory" rose blooms white.
The colors are beautiful, but they're not what they were supposed to be, nor are they what I wanted. What can I do to correct this?

How to get rid of pigeon roosting on my roof and poopping all over the place? Neighbors put spike wires all over their roofs an it doesn't really help their cause and is an eyesore.

How do I keep Racoons from ripping up the shingles on my mobile home's roof. I have this massive pecan tree, and the Racoons keep climbing down at night and messing with my trailer. One of these days Im gonna be starin up at night to a big hol ein the roof with a racoon coming down. Should I get a shotgun, coon dog, or hire Earl from the oil change place to do it? Y'all got any other solutions?

My St. Augustine grass has flourished all summer. In the last ten days my yard has developed large circular brown spots all over it. I water it a bit every day. It hasn't been cool enough for the yard to start dying yet; I live in Texas. Does anyone have any thoughts?
