HI all,
Is the South-central region of USA (Texas panhandle) suffering through a TIC infestation (due to the drought) this year?
%My Great Dane is picking up more TICS from outside so I am getting worried.
How, besides adding BUG KILLER to the yard and dousing him with Paramite chemicals can I try to protect him from this (possibly dangerous) insect?
How (what different?) groundcover can I place on the caliche that will not absorb the summertime heat that will not require me to use more water? - REMEMBER, we are going through a drought! =:-o

Two years ago I planted hollyhocks. In the fall of last year, I cut down the stalk and this year the stalk has grown and we've had beautiful flowers. Should I do the same?
Re: the Poppies. I only get one Poppy per year. Do these plants multiply? Does it have to be pruned?

If anyone has ever called them and gotten a pool, I'd just like to know if it was a decent pool and if the cost & financing were as good as what they advertise, or if it was just a rip-off...

I have about 5 rhodies in my yard. They should be fine, but 2 of them get mildew on new growth every year, and the leaves get all spotty and shriveled up.

Does anyone know how to avoid this?

I planted bush cucumbers and they were doing great, I water on a regular basis, but the leaves are turning brown and it is not producing fruit as good as it was. Is this normal because it happened last year to. I grow an organic garden.

I want an area to set my swing separate from my patio, so I decided to lay 16x16 square landscaping tile. I am uncertain how to prosede. I was thinking to rototile the soil and put down the landscaping material so weeds don't come up then put some kind of sand on the top(what kind?) then put the tiles on the sand to be able to level them out, but I am uncertain how to do this, use a level is all I can think of. Just not sure what to do to get everything ready.

It almost looks as if the leaves are burnt. Really dry and brittle even though I water it.

When you pull them up the roots look tubular. They pop up everywhere. They have a series of tearshaped leaves growing on each stem. The look is similar a fern , but it grows very tall and the so called bark can become very thick if not destroyed.
It also leaves a strong odor on your hand when you pull it up.

We rented a new house with very little landscaping done. It seems that to build up the ground a lot of landfill was used and it is very poor quality earth in some places. We have already spent hundreds of dollars on shrubs, trees and flowers as well as earth for planting them, but there are some areas where we still cannot even get grass to grow. Any ideas? Everyone else in the whole neighbourhood seems to have the same problem.

I am clearing some overgrown trees and I wish to shred the branches. I am getting conflicting info on when best to shred. Should I shred while the wood is soft with sap or should I let the wood dry?

I have searched for and found several online nursery websites that sell bulbs and perennials but I want to be sure my plants and flowers are healthy when they arrive at my home. Any recommendations or experiences (good or bad) would help me find a nursery that I can trust to deliver the best so I can plant them with confidence in my own garden! - - Anyone??? - -
