You can "plant" majesty palms in zone 7 if you leave them in the pots and then take them in during the winter. Or you can really plant them in the ground; when it gets close to freezing weather, either cut them to the ground and mulch over the stems heavily or wrap chicken wire around the entire plant(including the leaves) and then filling in with pine straw and covering with plastic to keep them from freezing. Bear in mind that this is no guarantee that they will come back next season for they are a zone 9-10 plant.

Depends how high up in the zone you are. Remember palms are tropicals, and cannot stand a prolonged winter freeze. Check with your local Botanical Society or county extension, and research well to find out correct depth. Also remember that transplanted palms need heavy support for the first year or so until their slow growing root system esstablishes, and please let the fronds free if they are tied!
